books.
Kim introduced Marilyn to the Son Risers president, Devon James. Devon appeared to be a man in his late thirties. He wore a full beard and mustache and wore a pair of faded jeans along with a sleeveless dark blue t-shit with the Son Risers logo on it. He had a rugged looking Jesus tattooed on one arm and a cross on the other. He was quite a muscular man who obviously took good care of himself.
"Devon, I would like you to meet a good friend of mine, Marilyn Miller," Kim said.
"Pleased to meet you, Marilyn," Devon smiled with a gapped front teeth. He had a golden cross earring in his left ear. Give the man an eye patch and he would have looked like a pirate. "Please help yourself to some of the goodies and coffee along the wall over there," he pointed. "We have about twenty-five more minutes until the program starts."
Marilyn and Kim walked over to the table of baked goods, each picking up a lemon bar and pouring a cup of coffee.
"He's kind of cute," Marilyn grinned, taking a bite of her lemon bar."
    "He has a wife."
"Darn!" Marilyn playfully stomped her foot and snapped her fingers.
Marilyn had been divorced for several years and was always checking out the merchandise.
The two of them took a seat in the front row. The club had about thirty seats set up, which were now filling fast. Another stack sat against the wall of the large garage, ready to go if needed. Kim introduced Marilyn to a few more of the members.
Devon stepped up to the podium and adjusted the microphone. He tapped on it a couple times to make sure sound was coming through. "Testing, testing," he said into the mic. There was a small amount of feedback. After a small tweak, he said, "Looks like we're good to go. If you would all take your seats, I would like to say an opening prayer. Everybody made their way to their seats.
Devon lifted his hands toward the garage rafters, "Heavenly Father. Jesus, the Son. Bless this meeting today and bless our guest speaker, Mr. Ryan Savage. May you give him the strength and the wisdom to deliver Your message today, oh, Lord." Several 'amen's' and 'thank you Jesus's' came from the audience.
Devon continued, "And if anyone in our audience today will seek the wisdom of our Lord Jesus today, may your hearts be changed and may you be born again of the Holy Spirit, Amen" Several more 'amens' followed in chorus. "Now, without further ado, I would like to introduce you to our guest speaker, Ryan Savage, from Colorado Springs. Won't you please give him a round of applause." The crowd applauded as he approached the podium and began adjusting the microphone to his height. The crowd continued to applaud him.

Chapter-6
Ryan Speaks

Ryan Savage smiled, looking over the crowd. "Thank you. Thank you. This is quite a reception. Thank you all so very much for coming here today."
Ryan Savage had jet black hair with a bit of a widow's peak. He stood about six feet tall. Kim found his smile to be kind of exciting. This must be what they meant by someone exuding charisma. The man was handsome as hell! His wife was one lucky woman to have a man like him.
He began to speak, "We have all heard in the news a lot lately about people living contrary to the will of God."
Many in the crowd nodded their heads in agreement.
"We are at war, people!" he yelled, slamming his fist down on the podium to emphasize his point. "Don't doubt for a second that we are at war here. God wants us to live a certain way. Guess what? That doesn't include being gay!"
Several people elicited 'no's' from the audience, shaking their heads. He was really getting the small crowd fired up. Kim thought, If this man isn't a preacher, he's missed his calling for sure.
He continued, "We have got to fight this scourge. We can't give up. I don't care how many states have been coerced into accepting this. It's against God's law. It is a sin! What about sin don't these people understand?" He cited a couple of verses from the books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus.
