Amen."
A bunch of 'amen's' rose up from the audience.
Ryan Savage stepped up to the mic. "Amen and amen! Thank you Lord Jesus! Let me take a moment to welcome Your new sheep. Now if anyone is interested, I have my new books and several brochures for you over at the table. Autographs are free of course!"
He stepped down from the podium and took a seat in back of the table. Kim was the first one in line. "I loved your speech and would like to buy your book."
He looked straight into her eyes, with a disarming smile, making her feel warm all over. She felt like she was blushing.
"Who do I make this out to?"
""Kim would be fine," she smiled down at him.
"Well, here you are, Kim," he said, handing her the book. "That'll be twenty bucks." The smile never left his face.
Kim fumbled with her wallet, "Oh, yeah, sure. Here you go," she said, handing him a twenty.
"Thank you," he said, slipping it into the metal change box on the table.
"Is there any way I can get in touch with you? I'd sure like to talk with you some more."
He handed her his business card. "Sure, just call that number."
"I will and thanks again."
She walked back over to Marilyn.
"Looks like you got stars in your eyes, girlfriend," Marilyn said. "You might want to be careful of that glimmer. The shine could wear off."
Kim barely heard her. She was too excited. "I feel so good, Marilyn. I really believe I've found my calling."
Kim was on cloud nine on the ride home. Smiling all the way.
Chapter-7
In Longmont, With Cece
Shannon had decided to ride with Cece in her F-150 back to Longmont, that Saturday. She was anxious to see where the woman that she was so enamored with lived. She was also looking forward to getting to know her better and to check out her restoration project on the vintage Triumph motorcycle.
It was a delightful drive. Shannon felt the urge to put her hand on Cece's leg, but thought better of it. Not that she didn't really, really want to. About a half hour later, Cece pulled the truck into her driveway.
"Home, sweet home," Cece smiled over at her.
Shannon could sense some chemistry going on. At least she didn't think the energy going back and forth between them was her imagination.
Cece shut off the ignition and the two women climbed out of the truck. She pressed a button on the garage door opener, revealing her two beloved bikes. The Triumph was a diamond in the rough, but Shannon had no doubt it would be a beauty when Cece was finished with the restoration.
"That's some bike," Shannon said, caressing the seat.
"You like?"
"Absolutely. Wow!"
"Can I get you something to drink?"
"I'll take a beer, if you got one."
"Now, that I've got."
Cece stepped over to an older refrigerator emblazoned with some Harley and other motorcycle related decals and pulled them each out an ice cold Coors. She opened them both, handing one to Shannon.
"Mmm, nice and frosty. Looks like you don't have to go far to get a drink."
"Well, I do spend a lot of hours out here in my spare time."
"I can relate," Shannon said.
"Let's go in the house and see what parts we can find online."
"Sounds great."
They walked from the garage, straight into the laundry room which led to the kitchen. They sat down next to each other so they could both view Cece's laptop screen.
"So what do you need to get it in shape?" Shannon asked her.
"Well, I'm fortunate that the majority of it is still intact. There are a few parts that are corroded, like some of the rubber. I also need to get the pitting out of the chrome. There's a lot of stuff on the market to do that. I'm gonna try it myself first. If that doesn't work, I'll see what Mick, at Carvell's Custom can do for me."
"What about Karen Bates? Can she help out?"
"Not with the chrome. She told me she only knows as much as I do as far as that goes, but with the mechanical stuff, yeah."
"You know I can help out, too, if you want."
"I want," Cece looked at her and smiled.
There went that chemistry again. Shannon
