inside her. Finally, when his body could offer no more, he fell to her side in a heap.
They were both breathless as they lay in a mutual embrace while recovering from another fiery union. With his chest heaving and his heart pounding, he trailed kisses from her shoulder up to her mouth where their lips met once more, but this time tenderly and gently.
He pulled her against him, and they cuddled closer. “You’re incredible, Kelsey,” he said honestly. For the first time, he was referring to more than just sex. This woman truly was incredible. She affected him in ways he had never experienced, far beyond any casual fuck he’d ever had. He didn’t even want to think of what morning would bring, but he didn’t dread waking to face it the way he had just a day ago.
“You’re pretty incredible yourself.” He could hear the fatigue in her voice, and grinned when she made a quick dash to the bathroom. Her sleepy eyes twinkled when she returned a few moments later.
He also took a minute to freshen up and returned to the bed, sliding under the shared blanket she offered. With his arms wrapped around her naked body and her gentle breath wafting against his chest, he closed his eyes, ending the day happier than he had been in quite some time.
For the first time in years, tomorrow held promise.

Chapter Five
The morning sun had barely cleared the horizon when the call of nature woke her from a sound sleep. Kelsey wasn’t sure if it was a good night’s rest or the impassioned activity of the previous night, but she felt fantastic. Not wanting to wake Nick, she slowly slid from the bed and tiptoed to the bathroom.
As she freshened up, she looked into the mirror, stunned to find a very different image staring back at her—a reflection of herself she had never seen. She wasn’t the same shy, awkward girl she had seen herself as the day before. Gone was the little girl whom everyone felt the need to protect. In her place was a woman—a confident, sexy woman, or so she pretended.
If she was honest with herself, and with the reflection staring back, she’d admit she was nervous as hell. How could she face him after the way she had acted last night? That wasn’t her. She had got lost in the heat of the moment, and was now left to tell her new lover that she was usually much quieter and more reserved than the way she had acted during their night of passion.
She clicked off the light before cracking open the bathroom door, pleased to see him still sleeping peacefully. Even after having been thoroughly satisfied several times, she longed to run her fingers across his sculptured torso, or trace the intricate lines of his prominent tattoo. She then scanned downward. She began to wonder if he was hard under the blanket. Oh, for the love of… Let the man sleep, Kelsey.
She tiptoed back to bed and tucked herself underneath the covers, being careful to cover every inch of her naked body .
“Regrets, Bright Eyes?” Though he’d appeared to be asleep, he had apparently sensed her self-consciousness.
“No,” she said firmly, “no regrets.”
“Then what’s wrong?” He finally opened his eyes and propped himself up on his arm, his face softening in a way she’d not seen the night before.
She shrugged her shoulders then paused, summoning the strength to say the words. What if he rejects me? What if he laughs? No, the guy I met last night wouldn’t do that.
    “Kelsey?”
“Where do we go from here?” She averted her eyes as soon as the words had left her mouth.
His reaction was delayed, but then a smile etched across his face. She looked back to see the beginnings of a laugh and quickly rolled away. ”Oh, never mind. I get it.”
“Kelsey.” He tugged on her shoulder in an attempt to turn her over. “Baby, look at me, please?”
“No, it was a stupid question. Forget I asked. I have no delusions about what happened here last night.”
    “What did happen last night?”
His question got her attention, and
