Castle at Sun Dip,â Cocoa told her friends. âThat should give us enough time to clean up and then talk to Princess Lolli.â
âOh, I hope sheâll let us have the ball,â Dash mumbled.
âMe too,â Cocoa whispered.
The large orange sun touched the top of the Frosted Mountains. Cocoa was exhausted. Cleaning up after a chocolate mess was not an easy task. Every part of her body ached from the tip of her wings to the bottom of her toes. She looked around at the sugar sand shoreline of Red Licorice Lake. Not a drop of chocolate insight. Cocoa sighed. She hoped her friends had had the same luck in their spots.
When Cocoa found her friends, they all looked just as worn out as she felt.
âChocolate cleanup completed,â Raina announced when she saw Cocoa. âThere was no damage to the gummy crops that I saw.â
âFruit Chew Meadow was fine too,â Berry said.
âI think everything is going to be okay,â Dash agreed.
Cara stood up. âMelli and I took care of Sour Orchard,â she told Cocoa. âEverything looks back to normal.â
Cocoa clapped her hands.
âChoc-o-rific!â
she exclaimed.
âIâm going to talk to Princess Lolli,â Cara said.
Cocoa and her friends surrounded Cara.Princess Lolli was fair and true, but telling her something like this would be scary for the young fairy.
âWeâll go with you,â Cocoa told her. She knew she was speaking for all her friends.
The fairies found Princess Lolli in the royal throne room. She listened to Caraâs story about finding Cocoaâs wand and how she couldnât stop the chocolate from spreading all over Sugar Valley.
âI am in favor of the fairies experimenting with new candies and techniques,â Princess Lolli said, âbut you should always ask permission. Especially if magic is involved.â
Cara nodded her head. âI promise never to try that trick again,â she vowed. âFrom now on, Iâm sticking with caramel.â
âA fine choice for you,â Princess Lolli told her. âYou are a good Caramel Fairy, Cara. You are full of sweetness, and I know you didnât mean any harm to the kingdom.â
Melli took Caraâs hand. âPlease donât ever feel that you canât come to me for help.â
âAll of us are here for you,â Cocoa said. âSure as sugar.â
Cara smiled as she looked at the fairies around her. âThank you,â she said. âI promise.â
Princess Lolli glanced up at the large candy clock on the wall. âSun Dip is over, and now itâs getting late.â She turned to look at the other fairies. âWhat do you think about getting on with the Sugar Ball?â
The fairies all cheered.
âThose are some extra-sweet words!â Cocoacried. âI canât wait to wear my new dress.â She put her hands on her hips. âBut maybe I should leave my chocolate wand at home.â
Everyone laughed, but Princess Lolli shook her head.
âYouâve worked very hard on that wand, Cocoa,â the fairy princess said. âPlease donât leave the wand at home.â
Cocoaâs wings fluttered, and she couldnât help but smile. âI would love to bring my chocolate wand tonight. And I wonât be letting it out of my sight the whole night!â
Chocolate Dip
T he grand ballroom at Candy Castle was glorious. The entire room was glowing with tiny sparkling white sugar lights. Each table was covered with a white tablecloth with tall sugar blossom branches in brightly colored gummy vases. The tiny white flowers on the branches were shimmering with colored sugar. The room had never looked so sweet.
Cocoa twirled around in a circle in front of her friends.
âThe dress is delicious,â Berry remarked.
Blushing, Cocoa smoothed out the skirt. âThank you,â she said. âA comment like that from you is extra-sweet.â
