motherfucker. Immediately Tone saw Big Philâs eyes land on Serena.
Big Phil stopped dead in his tracks and shook his head. âNow thatâs what you call a ass,â he said, craning his neck to get a better look at Serenaâs ass.
Tone stepped toward Big Phil. âFuck you just say?â Tone wasnât mad about what Big Phil said, he was mad âcause he felt that Big Phil was trying to disrespect him in front of a crowd.
âFuck is you getting all hot for? I was just giving your joint a compliment,â Big Phil said. âBut if you wanna get ignorant, that ainât no problem either.â He lifted his shirt and exposed the butt of his gun.
Immediately Serena jumped in front of Tone. âLetâs go, baby. He ainât worth it. Iâm not gonna let you go to jail over this loser,â she said as she escorted him through the parking lot.
âYeah, thatâs what I thought,â Big Phil said loud enough so Tone and Serena could hear him. âYou better listen to your bitch and get outta here before you get hurt.â
Tone reached his whip and quickly grabbed his .40-cal from underneath the seat.
Before he could turn around, Serena was right in front of him. âLet it go, please,â she pleaded. âItâs not worth it.â
Tone sighed loudly as he slid behind the wheel. Once Serena hopped in the passenger seat, he quickly pulled off. If Serena wasnât with him, he wouldâve gone back and blown Big Philâs head off for trying to play him like that, but for the moment he had to suck it up and let it go. He knew he would definitely run into Big Phil again, and it would be more than words being exchanged.
Chapter 5
Tone pulled up in front of his fatherâs house and threw the Range in park. He was still mad at Big Phil trying to stunt on him back there, all the things that he really wanted to do to the man running through his mind all at the same time.
âIâll be back in a second,â he said to Serena as he slid out the Range. He walked up to his fatherâs house and knocked lightly.
Detective Abraham snatched the door open, a frown on his face.
âWhat happen?â Tone asked as soon as he stepped in the kitchen and saw Maine laid up with his leg all wrapped up.
âTough guy over here decided he wanted to go out and look for Gruff,â Detective Abraham volunteered, shaking his head.
âHe gonâ have to answer for this,â Maine said.
Detective Abraham told him, âThe plan was for you to handle business while Tone was absent for a while, not start an unnecessary war.â
âHe already took money out of our pockets once.â Maine placed his gaze on Detective Abraham. âAnd Iâll be damned if I let it happen again.â
âTake care of business first!â Detective Abraham yelled. âOnce business is taken care of, I could care less what you do.â
âI got shorty outside,â Tone cut in. âCan I come holla at yâall tomorrow?â
âShe outside right now?â Detective Abraham asked, a wicked smirk on his face.
âYeah, she sitting in the car.â
âDid you get the connect yet?â
âStop being so thirsty.â Tone waved his pops off. âIâma get it.â
Detective Abraham pointed a finger at his son. âDonât be falling in love with this bitch. Donât forget this is business.â
âI got this, old man,â Tone said, ending the conversation at that.
Tone slid back behind the wheel of the Range Rover. âI want you to spend a night with me,â he said, looking at Serena for a response.
âLetâs go.â
âThat was easy.â Tone smiled as he pulled off, headed to his other condo out in Jersey.
Â
Â
Tone pulled into his parking spot and let the engine die.
âThis is it,â he said as the two entered the condo. âMake yourself at home.â
