the
first time she looked truly human.
‘Yes. I
changed full now. I think more clear. No more wolf.’ She sat on the bench
beneath the window. ‘Now I tell who we are. Tell who you are now. Make plan to
save you friend.’
Aylen felt
a pang of guilt as she thought of Emily. She should have tried to save her, but
her fear had been too great. She looked at the ground, unwilling to meet the
girl’s piercing eyes. A thought struck her. Who you are? What did she mean
by that?
‘We old
pack. Long time old. Mother tell me story. We not many now. Too many human for
us.’ She stopped, trying to find the right words. ‘We mixers. Not wolf. Not
human. Mix. We stay wolf for long time. Change when mountain ready for more. We
change to make more.’
Aylen
looked up at her sharply, realizing what this could mean. ‘I mated with the
pack. Are you saying that I might be pregnant with a werewolf baby ?’ She
knew how crazy this sounded out loud, and it was all she could do not to laugh.
The girl
shook her head. ‘No, you no carry. We no have young with human. No, you turn to
us. You one of us now.’
Aylen
reeled. ‘Are you fucking kidding me? You’re saying I’m a fucking werewolf?’
The girl
looked confused, upset. ‘Please. I say bad. We must find mother. She say good.
Okay? We go now. Is safe now.’
Without
waiting for an answer the girl sprang from the bench, strode across the room
and lifted the hatch in the floor. She dropped straight through, falling easily
to the ground far below. Aylen took one last look out of the window, saw the
male wolves far down the mountainside, picked the heavy flashlight from the
floor and followed the girl through the hatch.
It was time
to get some answers...
Emily
Emily
opened her eyes. A slow, steady drip of cold water was hitting her stomach, and
in the darkness all she could see was the moonlight catching each drop as it
fell. She felt cold, hard rock beneath her, and realized immediately that she
was in a cave.
She’d
dreamed... no, that wasn’t a dream. Too vivid for a dream. A wolf had
mounted her. Its smell had overwhelmed her senses, reaching beyond simple scent
and deep into her hind brain. She’d drifted in and out of consciousness as it
had thrust into her, and she’d been dimly aware of the pack watching from the
darkness. It had hurt. Damn, it hurt . She’d been shocked by the way the
wolf’s penis seemed to swell inside her, filling every inch of her.
It had been
a good pain, though. She couldn’t explain why, but she wanted it to happen.
When she felt the wolf change above her she’d been... words weren’t enough to
describe it. Overjoyed? A small, sane part of her mind told her that
what was happening was horrific, but it had been quickly overruled by the rest
of her. She needed him. Whatever this creature was that had violated her
so roughly, she welcomed it. Even now, lying alone in the cave, she felt
incomplete without his presence.
Once again
the small, rational part of her mind yelled out to her. You’re under his
influence! Emily, run! On your feet, soldier! It’s a werewolf! She couldn’t
bring herself to care. Whatever caused the power the man held over her it was
delicious and irresistible, and when she heard a sound at the mouth of the cave
she was filled with joy and gratitude. He’d returned to her. Emily raised her
head and saw him framed against the moonlight, and a thrill of anticipation ran
through her. He was perfect. Tall. Muscular. Powerful. He was everything she
wanted and needed, and her whole body ached for him.
The man
walked silently through the cave, confidently, as if he could see every inch of
the darkness. He paused beside her, and Emily could see steam rise from his
body, his sweat evaporating from his naked skin in the cold air. His long, dark
hair was covered in a fine dusting of snow that glittered in the moonlight.
Emily
spread her legs in anticipation, inviting him into her once again. She
