ha d taken her hand. Her brain registered that it was nice to be touched by someone, especially a man.
Distracted by Adam and her surroundings , she didn’t pay enough attention to her footing and slipped. Adam caught her by the waist. His grasp was tight but she didn’t mind his arm being wrapped around her as he held her up.
“Oops,” he said. She wasn’t usually clumsy but she just wasn’t paying attention. Thei r eyes locked for just a moment. H is eyes were deep brown, dark and mysterious, just like his personality. He stood her upright and stepped back so th at she had room to reposition her self.
She suddenly felt rude as she had n’ t thanked him, but it had been too long now for an appropriate thank you, so she let it go. Besides, he had been rude to her multiple times and hadn’t apologized.
Adam move d around the vessel fluently show ing that he was a pro at this and b efore she knew it they were cruising toward the Molokini crater. Adam held the wheel and told her to make herself comfortable wherever she wanted. She took her bag below into the living quarters and dropped it on the floor by the bathroom. She decided to be nosy and look around the ship. First, s he came to a stateroom with a queen size bed and white coverlet and curtains. The soothing covers reminded her of the clouds mingling with the sand. Moving on she found another stateroom as well as the galley . Everything was very clean and in its place.
Since she loved to eat, she peeked into the refrigerator and found eggs, milk, bread, cheeses and wine among other things . Eve knew right where she woul d be looking for a snack later. Finally heading back up top , she went to stand on the bow of the boat.
The warmth of the sun felt so good, especially compared to the Chicago temperatures that she had just left. She held onto the railing just looking toward their destination and soaking in some rays. For those few minutes, Eve felt like she had become someone else. She had escaped her city life and didn’t care if she ever went back. She had also left behind her demons, at least for the next few hours.
It wasn’t long before they arrived at the crater. Adam slowed the boat to a stop and lowered the anchor so they would keep position. There had to be thirty other boats there , yet Adam had kept his distance enough that they were away from everyone else.
Without a word, Adam stepped down to where E ve was and pulled his shirt off. In complete a we, she just stared at his body. He looked even better without his shirt than she could have imagined. H e had r ev ealed the tattoo that she had only seen a glimpse of earlier. A black dragonhead curved up over his shoulder and the large wings wrap ped around his bicep while the tail extended down over his forearm. This just seemed to accentuate his lean muscles . As s he scanned her eyes lower, she found several scars on his abdomen.
Another oddity that she wondered about. B ut lower still, his s wim trunks hung low on his hips and she bit her lip to stop the grin that wanted to beam. The man’s body left her pulse racing.
Oh lord!
“Sunscreen?” Adam held up a bottle. Eve had forgotten to put some on. She would surely burn and come out of the water with a bright red lobster back.
“Ooo. Yes, please.” Eve took the bottle and started smearing the lotion on her arms and face, as did Adam.
“Here let me get your back.” Eve felt a normal person might perceive the action of putting lotion on someone’s back as intimate , but Adam had been so abnormal with her that she didn’t think twice about it.
As she rubbed the lotion on his back, she couldn’t help but notice more scars. They varied in shape and size, too. The largest though ran down his side. It appeared to start under his arm and run all the way down below his waistband.
“Finished?” he asked.
“Yes, sorry.” She realized that she had slowed down the movement of her hand as she stared at the
