lived because she had stayed over at his condo many times. Now that Jennifer had moved out of their crappy apartment, she was free to move anywhere, but what made her want to move was the break in that was still unsolved. The sick bastard killed Jennifer’s cat, but didn’t steal anything. That made Detective Moore think it was someone they knew. Megan was a lawyer and had numerous people who wanted to get back at her. It was part of the job. She never knowingly defended a murder or anyone too evil.
She pulled into the large ten floor parking garage, she followed Max’s black BMW up to the tenth floor and parked next to him. She took a deep breath to try to calm herself down because Jax made her feel strange. Max opened her car door and placed his hand in front of her, she grinned and took his hand. As they walked toward the elevator he intertwined their fingers.
“You should know that Jax doesn’t control his power like I do. He said there is no point since it is what he is. I don’t think he will use it to hurt you, but I don’t want to test him. I love him , but he doesn’t know how to be loving. He just knows how to fuck.”
He ’d already told her that, and she figured he would use his power on her again. But she could always tell when an incubus was using their power or charm on her, Max made sure she knew what it felt like. He told her that incubus weren’t as ware as you would think.
She turned her head to the side so she could smile at him. “I understand, I really do and don’t worry I won’t let him use his charm against me.” She brought her other hand to his cheek and patted him. “You taught me well.” The elevator beeped letting them know it was there, and they walked in he pressed the number twenty. The doors closed and her heart pounded, she wondered if Jax would grow to love her like Max or would he just use her for sex because he wouldn’t lose his soul to her.
The elevator doors opened on Max’s floor, and they walked out and toward 10515. He placed his keys in the door and opened it, and Jax was sitting on the couch watching TV. He smiled the same sexy grin as Max and stood up to greet them. He walked toward her and arched his dark eyebrows, and she noticed that his eyes were a little darker than Max’s they were more of an emerald with specks of light green peeking through.
“Megan, it’s nice to see you again.” He reached for her fr ee hand and kissed her knuckles, keeping his eyes on hers the whole time. She felt his influence, and knew he was trying to charm her.
“Jax I have a rule about using your power on me. I don’t like it and I know when you are doing it, so please cool it down. I understand if you can’t pull it all back, but don’t treat me like one of your one night stands. I’m not a young girl that will worship you because you are sexy as sin, I want someone or someones who will be with me forever.”
Max squeezed the hand he was holding, and Jax grinned at her.
Jax kept her hand in his and looked her in the eyes. “I like that you don’t take my crap, but you should know I won’t be easy to love, and I don’t think I will be able to ever love you back.”
Megan knew that Phoenix had told Jennifer the same thing, and he now loved her, so there was hope for them. “I understand,” she said and smiled at him.
Max tugged on her hand to get her attention, and she turned her head to the side to look at him. “I know I said I would cook, but I called Luis and ordered your favorite. I just thought it would be easier this way.” Luis was a small and romantic restaurant that Max took her on for their first date. She grinned at him, and he returned her grin. “Now, how about you two sit and talk while I go downstairs to wait for our food.”
The only thing about Luis was, they delivered , but only to the front desk because Max lived on the top floor. She always thought it was stupid because he would always tip them very well, and hell they should just
