smoke made her knees weak. She opened her mouth to say something and suddenly felt his lips on hers. Lance’s hands cupped her face as his lips pressed against hers, his tongue tracing her lips. She gasped and silently cursed the guitar in between them, wanting to press her body against him.

“Let’s go, man!” The drummer whom Samantha suddenly recognized as Lance’s long time friend Jason came by and dragged him away from Samantha. She could see a hint of his smile even in the dark before he turned to head back to the stage for the encore. Her trembling hand went up to her lips, touching them softly. Lance had been amazing kisser years ago and he hadn’t lost that talent.

She wiped her sweaty hands on her jeans and watched Lance out on stage. She only had eyes for him. Her nipples were hard and ached as she thought about Lance’s kiss. Her panties felt damp when she thought about what might happen when Lance finished the show and they were alone.

“Thank you and good night!” The lead singer of the Forbidden Gods shouted into the microphone. Lance took off his guitar and flicked the pick into the crowd before running off stage to Samantha. He had a wicked smile on his face, and she felt desire pool in her belly as she thought about their earlier kiss.

Lance took her by the hand. “Let’s find a place to be alone,” he whispered in her ear, sending a shiver down her spine as his lips touched her flesh.

She grasped his hand. It was so big and strong, the fingertips calloused from all the guitar playing he did. She had always loved to hold hands with him. She looked up at him with a smile and a nod.

Samantha was definitely glad she had decided to come to the Forbidden Gods show.

Chapter Five

Lance pulled Samantha along the halls backstage impatiently. Everywhere he looked, there were people. He had to get her alone.

“Let’s find the limo and go back to the hotel,” he turned and said to her as he continued to walk through the hallway. “It’ll be the only way we can get any privacy.”

He practically ran to the side door of the arena, never letting go of her hand. They got outside where the limo was waiting and he opened the door, almost pushing her inside. He turned and noticed some groupies had spotted him and started screaming his name. He hurried inside the limo and shut the door behind him.

“Whew, that was close. If they got a hold of me, we’d never get out of here.” He let out a sigh of relief and slid over to her on the seat. “Finally, alone,” he said, flashing a grin at her. He wanted to kiss her, but figured they’d better talk some first. “I’m surprised to see you. Happy to see you, but surprised.”

She blushed and glanced down at her hands on her lap. “I know. And I’m a little surprised to be here, quite honestly.” She shrugged. “Guess I wanted to see you in action someplace other than your mom’s basement.”

He threw his head back and laughed. He often thought about all those times in his mom’s basement playing for her. He’d even started teaching her some basic guitar chords before they broke up. “A lot different huh?”

She giggled. “Yep, thousands of adoring fans instead of just little old me.” Her eyes filled with tears. “I’m so proud of you, Lance. You made your dream come true,” she said softly.

Should he tell her now how he really felt? That none of this mattered without her? What if she pushed him away again? He decided to play it cool yet. “I did. And you are writing like you wanted.” He reached over and took her face in his hands, stroking her cheek with this thumb. “Guess we both ended up ok, huh?”

She reached a hand up to touch his face and nodded. He pulled her to him for a kiss. This one was slower than the last, his lips taking time to move over hers, exploring her mouth gently with his tongue. She whimpered deep in her throat and he pulled onto him so
