you need help getting my attention,” Josh suggested.
“Is she right?” Brian asked carefully.
Damn, Brian was cute. The direct question, offset by the shy smile, undeniably tempted Josh. A kiss. He wanted to kiss Brian and wasn’t in uniform this time.
“You have to ask that after Lake Michigan Drive?”
Brian looked up at him with those pale brown eyes, flecked with gold and bright green. His long lashes only seemed to soften the expression in his gaze further.
Josh put down his mug, eyes locked on Brian’s. Brian had said Josh’s badge had nothing to do with his attraction. Yet for so many people, the uniform played a part. In the light of day, would Brian turn away from a kiss? Would he accept it, but feel obligated to because of what had happened Thursday night? God, Josh would really hate that. He’d seen enough of that kind of thing, had that vibe before. He hoped Brian’s attraction to him was honest. He had to trust that Brian was telling him the truth.
“You’re sure it’s not my badge that gets you going?” Josh asked.
“You don’t beat around the bush, do you?”
Josh lifted a brow in amusement. “I’m not interested in bush .”
Brian grinned. “It’s really not the badge.”
Josh trailed his fingertips up Brian’s bare chest. Brian’s lips parted. Brian’s gaze dropped to Josh’s lips. He looked at them intently as though he were making his mind up about what to say next.
“You can tell me to get lost if I’m reading what happened between us wrong,” Josh offered.
Brian kissed him gently. He smiled. “You’re reading it correctly.”
“Promise me you’ll stop speeding and stabbing your tires to get me to pull over?” Josh asked.
“Lake Michigan Drive is a bad influence, but I promise.”
“Just say no,” Josh murmured.
Josh closed the brief distance. His hands slipped down Brian’s smooth, warm skin. When he stroked Brian’s belly, Brian gasped. Josh took advantage of his parted lips, covering them and delving inside. He swept his tongue deep. Brian moaned, lifting into the kiss as he had before.
Josh wrapped his arms around the other man’s waist, enjoying the feel of Brian’s body against his. Brian clung to Josh.
When the kiss finally broke, they were breathing heavily.
“Why did you really come?” Brian asked.
“I wanted to see you, out of my uniform. I needed to see for myself that what happened wasn’t a one-time thing.”
“You mentioned going on a date. Were you serious?” Brian asked.
Josh nodded with a smile. “Is it too late to ask you out for lunch?”
“Hell, no. I have a project to work on this weekend, but it can wait until tomorrow. Just let me go throw on some clothes.”
Josh leaned back against the counter. “I’ll wait here.”
He lifted his mug for another long sip as he watched Brian walk away. He had an amazing ass. Josh couldn’t wait, despite what he’d just said. He put down the coffee and followed Brian up the steps to his room.
Brian turned, a look of amusement in his eyes. “You don’t wait very well, do you?”
“I just—” How did he explain that Brian made him impatient for more? He’d had a taste of the other man’s passion, his freedom of sexuality on the side of the road, and it was mind consuming in its difference from Josh’s normal rigidity.
“I’m flattered. More than you know.”
Brian hooked his thumbs in his elastic waistband and pushed them down. His cock sprang free. Josh’s gaze riveted to the pale, pretty length of pink-tipped, alabaster shaft. Bare, hairless balls nestled between his legs. His narrow hips and flat belly beckoned Josh, and he wasn’t one to ignore a direct request.
“Are you always this spontaneous?” Josh asked.
Brian grabbed his cock in his hand and pumped it a few times. “When I have ample motivation.”
“You constantly surprise me. Sometimes you seem almost shy, and other times you’re ready to throw caution to the wind.”
“When I know I have a receptive audience, shyness just
