kitchen. Just as he was about to take a bite, Regina caught his eye. She was standing barefoot in front of Ser ena’s desk, reading a small note.
He couldn't help but be a little fascinated by her excitement over a pair of shoes. Reddick was always well dressed. He never came to work without a freshly lau ndered and pressed suit. Toward the end of the day, as most of the staff filtered home, he would remove his jacket and tie. He wore designer label clothing both for work and casual, but he mostly just followed the trends and knew what brands were more popular at any given time.
He made sure that he not only looked successful, but that people knew he was successful by the amount of money he spent on his clothes and other material objects such as his watch and car. By no means was he ever exci ted about a pair of shoes or a new sweater, not like this.
Her excitement allowed her to have an air of innocence. This was a refreshing way to see a female, especially one that he often butted heads with. He respected that she was a powerhouse, but he would ne ver let her know that. He got way too much pleasure in watching her squirm at his snide remarks.
Reddick decided to grab a seat behind one of the desks and pretended to be on the phone. He knew he was just out of her field of vision, but he didn’t want to get caught watching her.
After taking a few bites of his protein bar, he absently put it down. He was too consumed with watching Regina’s every move. She opened the box so slowly that one may have thought the contents of the box were fragile or about to explode. He wondered what was so special about these shoes.
Reddick found himself cataloguing her features. He’d always found her attractive, but something had changed. It was like someone lifted the fog and he could see her for who she really was.
Her skin had significantly darkened over the summer months. He wasn’t sure about her ethnic heritage. He had a slight recollection that she may have been part Native American. Her dark hair was always pinned up, but a few pieces hung down just past her shoulders. There was an unruly wave to them from being tied back most of the day.
The condition of her hair elicited images of what she might look like in the morning when she woke up. He pictured her lying beside him with little to no makeup and her hair slightly disheveled from a sleepless night.
He watched as she stroked a red felt-looking bag. He closed his eyes for a moment and imagined her stroking his inner thighs, teasing him with the hope that she might stroke him where it mattered most. Regina gently rubbed the bag across her cheek, enjoying the soft sensation he knew his freshly shaven cheeks could provide her with.
She placed the red bag on Serena’s desk before delicately revealing the cherry-red pumps that were stowed away in the matching box. She examined each shoe car efully, admiring every little stitch.
Placing the box on the desk, she took the left shoe in hand, leaving the right one in the box. She u nhooked the clasp of the strap. Bending over, she carefully slid her toes into the front of the shoe. Reddick watched her tiny toes poke through the front opening. The precision of her French-manicured nails were moments ago in his hands. Her feet were softer than his niece’s bunny.
Reddick had a thing for toes. Not just any toes. They had to be just right—not too short, not too long. Her feet were symmetrical and shaped like an artist sculpted them out of clay. He licked his lips at the thought of pressing them against the tips of each toe.
With her foot in the shoe, she secured the left one by threading the strap through the tiny gold buckle. Both her hands glided over the smooth patent leather, and she didn’t stop there. Her hand continued up over her ankles and halfway up her calf as she extended her leg into the air to admire her shoes.
Reddick knew he was enjoying himself a little too much. How could he help himself? Regina was just the
