I’m that stupid! All you wanted to do was put a no trespassing sign around my neck and walk away.”
She fought the tears that threatened and clenched her hands into fists. “So you don’t want a relationship with me. Fine. I never asked you for one, and I’m not mad that you don’t want one. What pisses me off is that after all the time you’ve known me, you have so little respect for me that you waited until after you spent the night fucking me to tell me that you don’t want me for anything else. Not only that, but you only fucked me so no one else would.”
“Rachel, please. Let’s talk about this. It’s not like that at all.” Boone stood and step toward her, but she stepped back.
“Don’t you fucking touch me,” she fumed, shaking with anger and pain. “Get out! I don’t want to ever see either one of you ever again.” Not gonna happen in a town this size, but she would do her best. Seeing them every day would be unbearable.
“Rachel, sugar,” Chase began and moved closer.
“Don’t you sugar me, you jerk. I hate you. I hate both of you. You’re both liars, and I’m sorry I ever met either one of you. Get out.”
“That’s enough, damn it!” Boone grabbed the front of her robe and lifted her to her toes. “Everything we said to you last night was the truth. We’ve never lied to you. We want you, damn it. We’re just asking you for a little time.”
“Take all the time you want.” She sneered and pulled away from him. “Take the rest of your life. I don’t give a shit. I’ve had enough of both of you. I don’t want either one of you anymore.”
Chase reached out and grabbed her, pulling her tightly against him. She fought not to respond to his body against hers, her breasts crushed against his chest. “Now who’s the liar? I can prove you’re lying. I can have you begging me to take you again.”
Rachel knew he spoke the truth but tried desperately not to show it. She had to make them leave before she did something incredibly stupid. She knew she’d never forgive herself if she gave in to them now. She curled her lip at him. “Don’t you mean you’ll have me begging you to fuck me?” She shrugged. “Sure, you’re good, but so are a lot of other men, and they might actually stick around after they fuck me.” She forced her expression to remain cool as she saw temper flare in his eyes.
    “Watch yourself, honey.”
“Why?” She looked at both of them disdainfully. “All you wanted was a fuck. You got it. So did I. Thanks for a good time. Now get out.”
“I ought to put you over my knee for talking like that,” Chase told her through clenched teeth.
Rachel laughed humorlessly. “You don’t have the right to do that. But I’ll pass your suggestion on to the next man I fuck. How’s that?” She lowered her voice. “Maybe he’ll like having me over his lap so much he’ll never want to leave.”
Boone clenched his hands into fists, then closed his eyes and took a deep breath before unclenching them. “Rachel, we just need a little time. We’re crazy about you.”
Rachel cursed herself when she swallowed the lump in her throat and knew she didn’t have much time. “Well I no longer care about either of you. Get the fuck out. Now!”
Boone eyed her, and she ruthlessly ignored the pain in his eyes. “Come on, Chase. Let’s let her calm down.”
Chase muttered curses, his gaze desperate as he passed her but she just glared at him.
“Baby,” Boone began, “we’ll talk later.”
“Yeah, when hell freezes over. Get out .”
Rachel managed to keep her features hard and cold until the door closed behind them. Moving painfully, she locked it and crumpled to the floor as the tears she’d kept at bay broke free, and she wept as her heart shattered.

Rachel couldn’t believe how often she saw Boone and Chase now.
In a town as small and close knit as Desire, she saw practically everyone at some point during the week, but hadn’t run
