man,” Lendsey said and I shook my head no.
“No, I haven’t found someone worthy enough to be my man.”
“Oh word? You’re picky, I like that.”
    “Do you?”
    “I do.”
“Oh shoot, I just remembered I have somewhere to be in the morning. Matikah, are you riding with me?” Goldie stood up.
I knew she was lying and only wanted to leave because Britain was getting head from some random right in the open, and she was mad about it. I wasn’t really trying to leave because I was enjoying all this flirting Lendsey was doing. I knew he was bad news, but what girl didn’t like bad boys?
“Oh Goldie, now? It’s not even that late and we’ve only been here like two hours.”
“I told you I had somewhere to be!”
“Alright, give me a few minutes,” I told her and she rolled her eyes.
“I’m gonna go to the bathroom, and when I come out I’m leaving, Matikah.”
Once she stormed off towards the bathroom, both Lendsey and I burst into laughter. As it ceased we made eye contact. His eyes were so alluring, just like the rest of him.
“So, since your hatin’ ass friend is mad, can I get your number before you leave?” Was he for real?
“What do you want my number for?”
“So I can fucking talk to you, shorty, what else would I need the shit for? I like you and I wanna spend some time with you outside of the club. And I know your little mean ass ain’t gon’ come home with me.”
    “You’re right.”
“Exactly then, so give me that number, ma, this is the last time I’m gonna ask you before I get desperate and take the shit from your phone.”
“A Quinton boy getting desperate? That’s unheard of.”
“Exactly, that shows that you’re special, now quit fucking with me.” He licked his lips and handed me his iPhone with the caller app up. I typed it in, and then handed it back to him. “Thank you.”
I spotted Goldie switching back over, so I got up from the little couch.
    “You better call, nigga.”
“Look who’s thirsty now,” he grinned with his fine ass, and sipped whatever was in his glass.
“I’m not thirsty, I just don’t like giving my number out for no reason.”
“Don’t give your number out to nobody else either.”
    “Or what?”
He set his drink down and stood up to tower over me. He was at least 6’4”.
“Because I’m coming for you,” he leaned down to whisper into my ear, and palmed the small of my back. I couldn’t do anything but nod.
He kissed the side of my face as I palmed his biceps, then I said goodbye to his brother Britain, then Rhys and his girlfriend, Summer. I’d forgotten the other dude’s name.
Goldie and I walked through the huge venue so we could get to the exit, and my cheeks were starting to hurt because I couldn’t stop smiling.
“Why are you over there looking like a fuckin’ Jack in the Box?” Goldie frowned as she buckled her seat belt.
    “Why do you think?”
She burst into laughter and shook her head as she cranked the car.
“Because of Lendsey Quinton asking for your number? Matikah, that nigga is a boss and he has a boss’s appetite.”
    “A boss’s appetite?”
“A large appetite for the opposite sex. He wants your number so he can fuck you and then never call again. I hope Kimberlyn knows that’s why TQ took her home. He’s probably fuckin’ right now.”
“No, Kimberlyn wouldn’t do that. She doesn’t even know him. And how do you know their intentions, Goldie? You don’t even know them.”
“No, you and Kimberlyn don’t know them, I do. They are men who have the world at their feet, you honestly believe that they’d just throw all that away for you and Kimberlyn?”
I processed what she was saying and she was definitely right. I’d be stupid to think that Lendsey and I could foster up any kind of relationship. Maybe we could be cool, but I’ll be damned if he tries to make me one of his little bitches.
“I get it. If he texts me or calls me, which he probably won’t, I just won’t
