    She opened her eyes and immediately closed them again as the room began to spin.  Grasping for purchase she snagged the shower curtain but the movement threw her further off balance and she tumbled head first into the wall and dropped to her knees with a thud.  Her vision blurred and her head lulled to the side as she struggled to stay conscious.

    Holt opened the door to find Jill standing on the other side.  “I’m sorry to bother you, but I just wanted to check on Emma.  She was really upset after what happened last night.” 
    “Come on in .” He stepped back and motioned for Jill to enter.  “She’s in the shower right now.  It’s been a rough night.”  He started to close the door and spotted Garrett walking toward him.
    “I’m sorry I overslept,” Garrett offered as he slipped past Holt into the room. 
    Holt let the door close behind him as he turned back to his friends.  ”No big deal. We also slept in a little.  Emma had a rough night so I wanted her to rest a little longer.”
    Jill frowned.  “That’s twice you said rough night.  What happened?”
    Holt glanced at the closed bathroom door.  “She woke up in the middle of the night puking her guts up.  She thinks it was something she ate, but I’m not so sure.  I think maybe this situation with Bryan is messing with her.”
    Jill appeared to consider Holt’s words.  “Come to think of it, she hadn’t looked all that well over the last week or so.  Maybe she’s got the flu or some stomach bug.”
    “Maybe,” Holt replied.  “I wish she would have let me call Doctor Andrews though.” He just finished his sentence when a loud thud came from inside the bathroom.  His heart jumped and he went to the door.  “Emma?” He knocked.  “Emma, baby, are you all right?”
    His question was met with silence and the fine hair on the back of his neck stood up.  Something was wrong.  He glanced at Jill and Garrett.  “Wait here, I’m going in.”
    He opened the door and his heart damn near stopped at the sight before him.  Emma was on her knees draped over the side of the tub and blood dripped from her head. “Emma!  Oh God.”  In two strides he crossed the room and crouched in front of her then brushed her wet hair out of her face.  “Baby, are you with me?”
    She lifted her head, her glaze eyes looking up at him and he thanked God she was still conscious. 
    “Oh my God,” Jill gasped from the doorway.  “Garrett, go get Doctor Andrews.  Emma is hurt.”  She rushed forward, grabbed a towel off the counter and moved in to help. 
    “I got her,” Holt said as he carefully pulled Emma from the tub and lifted her into his arms.  “Get a couple of towels.”
    He carried Emma to the bed and gently laid her down.  “Baby, you still with me?”
    Emma gave him a small nod.
    “Let’s get her dried off.” Jill moved in from the other side of the bed.  Here’s a small towel, see if you can staunch that bleeding.”
    Holt took the towel and gently placed it over the cut on Emma’s forehead while Jill set about drying her.  She pulled the sheet up over Emma’s body and draped a towel over her exposed breasts. 
    Holt kept his attention focused on Emma’s face looking for any change in her condition.  “Baby,” he whispered as he checked the cut and reapplied pressure when it began to bleed again.  “What happened?”
    Emma licked her lips.  “Dizzy,” she managed to say as she swallowed hard.  “Fell.”
    “Okay, baby.  Just hang in there, Garrett went for help.” He stroked a shaky hand against her hair as he struggled to keep his fear under control.
    “What’s going on?” Doctor Andrews appeared and Holt sent up a prayer of thanks.  Jill stepped back making room for the doc to take her place. 
    Holt made quick work of brin g ing the doctor up to speed.  “Doc, what’s wrong with her?”
    “I don’t know yet, Holt, but let’s see if we can figure it out.”
