chair, she scrunched as low as she could get. She watched the teen mop up the puddle of coffee and thought about what she wanted to say. Part of her wanted to just leave, without explanation, but her gut told her stay. “You’re telling me that in the past two weeks I’ve slept with both of you?”
    They nodded.
She cringed. She knew better than to jump into bed with some guy right away, but he had seemed so normal, and so wonderful, that she had stopped thinking. Sighing, she tried to decide whether she should be mad at herself or them. A few seconds later, she decided they were both mostly to blame.
“We realize this is a lot to take in, but I needed you to know.” Anthony had lowered his voice so that the conversation seemed more intimate, but she couldn’t stop looking at Devon, who gave her a wink and she couldn’t stop the heat that trailed down her spine. She turned her attention back to Anthony, recalling his recent words.
It was admirable, she supposed. After all, Anthony probably could have kept dating her without ever letting on. She never would have figured it out. In fact, she almost felt bad for the guy. He had been incredibly good to her, and maybe he really didn’t have any idea what his twin had done until she mentioned it, but still. Here she was in a coffee shop having a conversation she would only be able to explain by telling people that she was dating a guy with an evil twin.
“I’m not really sure what you want me to say now. It’s weird that I’ve slept with your brother. How are we supposed to have a relationship?”
“That’s part of what we wanted to talk to you about,” Anthony said, slowly. “See, we both really like you. You are an amazing woman, and we both really want to be a part of your life.”
She started to open her mouth, but then closed it. There was nothing she could say that would express the range of emotions she was feeling. If they were suggesting that she be shared, well, that was something she’d never considered. Sure, she’d read books where the heroine got to have sex with two hunks, but that sort of thing didn’t happen in real life. At least not in hers.
“We were kind of hoping you would be willing to date both of us.” Anthony reached out and took her hand, his forefinger stoking her thumb. Her mind flashed back to the incredible night she had spent wrapped up with him in her bed. Two people who were barely more than strangers, sharing the most intimate parts of themselves. She’d divulged things to him that she hadn’t told anyone else, not even her family.
“You want me to keep dating both of you? You don’t think that would be weird? I’m not sure I can be in a relationship where I can say ‘that’s not how your brother does it.’”
Anthony leaned closer to her. “The thing is, we aren’t asking you to date us separately.”
“What my brother is trying to say is that we were hoping you would be willing to have sex with both of us. At the same time.” A devilish grin was plastered on Devon’s face. While Anthony had made every attempt to make her feel comfortable, his brother was sitting back, relaxed. Everything about him said that he was calm and collected; yet, he was still giving off a warmth that made her feel safe.
“Look, we’ve had a couple days to think about this. You don’t have to make a decision right now. Take as much time as you want, then let me know.” Anthony stood up and motioned for his brother to join him. When Devon placed a hand on her shoulder, she had to restrain from leaning into his touch. The twins lingered for a moment, as though they might say something else, but then they left without another word.
Cara kept her back turned until she was sure they would be out of sight. Then, twisting around, she glanced toward the door, hoping for one last look at the twins before they disappeared completely. The whole experience felt like a dream, snippets of conversation floating through her head. Part of
