groups.
Most of the shifter community kept hidden, even from fellow shifters. Once they become public, it would be a huge job to organize all the different communities. Also not found yet.” Quin said and then stood in front of her.
Trinity looked up and met his gaze. “I need to talk to my parents.” She said softly and almost let out a breath of relief when the man nodded and turned.
“Let"s go and get lunch on the table, join us when you are finished. Then we will resume the meeting after we are done.” Quin said and moved his arm to his friends indicating they should leave the room.
Finally, there were only four people left in the room. Her parents, Spencer, and her.
Trinity let loose the breath she had been holding in. What the heck was going on?
“Mother, father, we need to leave before they discover the truth and kill us.” Trinity whispered urgently.
Her father laughed and knelt in front of her. “Trinity, you were listening the same as all of us. You are one of the Chosen. They could see your aura and know that you belong here. I know you are confused, but let us explain a little.” Trinity looked at her parents and then nodded slowly. She would listen, but she really thought that maybe they had been drugged or something, she would hate to think her parents had begun getting dementia, in a wolf it was the worst thing. Usually those were put to death. She would take her parents far away before she let that happen. Maybe they could find a nice place in the mountains; she could take care of them.
“Trinity,” Spencer said and drew her attention. “We are telling you this now because we found out recently the New Council was back. Living where we do, the news travels slowly. I know that they had begun to search for the Chosen, but I was worried about your safety. I did not want to come out in the open until I was sure that you would be protected. It looks like they have this well in hand. The night that your parents witnessed the murder, we decided that we would have to keep you a secret. That is why you were a servant all these years. I am so embarrassed to say that I had one of the Chosen as a mere hired hand, but if Braden would have found you, I have no doubt in my mind he would have tried to kill you.”
Her mother took her hands. “Trinity. You have been sheltered for so long. Now is the time that you spread your wings and take your rightful place on the Council.” Trinity sat quietly and nodded, finally it began to sink in. She was one of the Chosen.
“But, I don"t fit in. They are all so beautiful and confident.” She muttered almost to herself.
Her father lifted her head until she looked at him in the eyes and said, “Young lady, you are more beautiful than any of the women I have seen. You are smart and capable; do not let anyone tell you different.”
Trinity felt the tears gather in her eyes. She wanted to blurt out that he was her father so he had to say that, but she held back, not wanting to hurt his feelings. What he had said meant the world to her.
“I agree. My mate is absolutely gorgeous.” A deep voice said from the door.
Her father stood quickly and stood in front of her as if to protect her. Her mother gasped in surprise and Spencer stood.
    “Who are you?” Spencer demanded.
Trinity snuck a look around her father"s hip and almost squealed. It was the guard from the gate. The one who had sniffed the air. He was beautiful. Tall, long dark hair that was tied back so she could not see how long it was, and from what she could see blue eyes that glittered with amusement. His body was all solid muscle with arms the size of her waist. His face was long and lean with cheekbones that stuck out and accented his long, perfectly shaped nose. His lips were full and she wanted to rise and kiss the man.
Where had that come from? She thought and then hid behind her father again so she could gather herself.
