wrapped my arms around him. He stopped and put the knife down and grasped both of my hands. “This is the first time in days that I have felt relaxed.” He released my hands and spun around to face me.
“I believe that is the point, Ali. “ He pulled me to him. His heartbeat felt soothing and gentle on my cheek. “I don’t know how this happened. Us, I mean. I never in a life time thought that you and I would even be anything but close friends.” I pulled away, went to the island bar, and sat down while he continued his work.
“I agree. I will say I hardly ever thought you would be a cop when we were kids. I mean I know you are ten years older than me but I saw you a lot more then you think.”
“Oh? “ He turned around and smiled. “Thought about me, did you?” I laughed. It felt so good to laugh again.
“Yes but not like you think. I mean a decade between us.”
“Do you think it may be an issue?”
“No. Not now of course. We are adults. “I smiled as I looked at him over my glass. “Consenting ones at that.” He put the knife down again and walked over to me. The thrilling sensations that I felt rush through my body just watching him approach was over whelming me. He scooped me up and brought me over to the couch. His kisses felt urgent, needy but soft and touching. We made the most passionate love that I had ever experienced in my life. It left me dizzy and content at the same time.
“Well, you must have an appetite now.” We both laughed. He walked over to the hall closet, grabbed a blanket and pillow, and brought it over to the couch. He covered me gently with the blanket and placed the pillow under my head. “You are beautiful Alison. The kind of beautiful that radiates all that is around you.” He walked into the kitchen and I could hear him getting plates together. I felt so lucky. So loved. I even felt desired and for a small town girl like me. Feeling loved was like the feeling when a baked pie brought over by a nice neighbor.
Suddenly we heard the crashing of broken glass. I screamed as Jason came running from the kitchen.
“Alison are you ok?” He cried.
“Yes” Yelled from under the blanket that had thrown over my head at the first initial shock of the crash. Jason came over to me, kissed my forehead, and told me to stay put. I could feel my whole entire body shivering with fright. Jason came back in carrying a huge rock. A note was tied to it. “What is that?” I knew but I guess I had to hear it.
“They found us Alison. I called the FBI. They are on their way.” He came to me, sat down, and pulled me to him. I yanked myself away and stood up with the blanket wrapped around me.
“I can’t do this anymore!” They have murdered someone in my bar. My lively hood where I make money to survive. They killed my cat. They drove Reese away. Actually not that that was a bad thing. They call and threaten me and now this.” I turned and stormed up to the bedroom to get dressed. I closed the door and started to change. I sat on the bed when I got finished and put my head in my hands and cried. I heard him quietly knock. He waited, knocked again and then slowly turned the knob. I did not look up and I could feel him watching me from the doorway. He slowly walked over and sat down and I did not even wait for him to gesture to cuddle up with him I just did it.
We walked back out into the living room and the FBI showed up again.
“Ok Ali, it is time to get a little more interactive instead of waiting for these guys to do something.” Linden suggested.
    “Like what?” I asked.
    “Well since Riley approached you…”
    “NO!” Jason said quickly.
    “Jason, “Holbrook started.
“We cannot put Ali at risk on purpose.”
“Jason you are a police officer. You understand all of this.”
    “Yes but…”
“I need this to end.” I said quietly. The men stopped and looked at me. “What do you want me to do?”
“Ok, call Shanna. Make a lunch date or something that you
