staying—never leaving. It was just a natural progression with him, but everything always seemed to be that way with Miller.
I rubbed my eyes as I warded off an afternoon slump of fatigue. We had been spending the last couple of nights up late together. I had been writing all morning and it was beginning to catch up with me. I turned and eyed the door as I heard the key turning in the lock. I was glad that I had already called down and informed the desk that Miller would be staying with me. They would give him his own code and would be free to come and go as he pleased without me having to let him in and out.
I looked up to view Miller entering and I wondered how he had so quickly become a part of my life. The thought of his presumption that he had snuck into my life unaware, made me smile. I highly doubted he had a friend who showed signs of agoraphobia. I let him think that he had me fooled, I didn’t need to give all of my secrets away.
“Close your eyes love.”
I closed them assuming he had bought me flowers. I felt soft fur brush against my cheek and heard the small purr of a tiny kitten. I squealed as I opened my eyes grabbing it. It was the tiniest little calico cat I had ever laid eyes on.
“That is so sweet, Miller.”
“Yeah, that’s me—a sweet killer.” He bent down and kissed me. He then placed a finger under my chin and looked me directly in the eyes. “Don’t ever mistake my kindness for weakness.”
“I wouldn’t do that Miller.”
“I was going to get you a dog but you can’t let him out—so I got a boy kitten. He better be the only fucking male that ever graces your door, girl.”
“Scouts honor, the only two men who will grace my door are you and Cali.”
“A befitting name, now put him down so I can tend to my other pussy.”
He turned my chair towards him and cocked my legs up on the edge of it. His fingers moved my panties over and his tongue began an immediate assault on my opening. In no time my legs were shaking and his finger was pumping in and out of me. I tugged at his chocolate brown hair while moaning his name. His lips sucked and pulled my clit out of hiding and sent me right over the edge.
He ran the back of his hand over his mouth as he sheepishly eyed me and informed me that he had to go set Cali up. I pulled his shirt that I was wearing around me and followed behind him. I reached down and scooped up the kitten off of the floor. I was curious to see what he had purchased. I stood by the door and watched as he pulled in everything from a kitty condo to feeding dishes. It looked like he’d purchased a pet store for the little guy. It was evident this cat had found a good home. Between me spoiling him and Miller buying him toys, the little guy would make out like the proverbial fat cat.
I followed behind him, stroking the cat and watched as he set up everything up. As I watched the large muscled man bent over a cat-food bowl, I couldn’t help but wonder how a man who was hired out as a P.I. and bodyguard, could have such a soft side. I knew that I was seeing a side of him no one else did. Evidently between his need to protect me, and my vulnerability of being agoraphobic, he had no need to be emotionally guarded with me. I couldn’t help but feel special.
When he turned and removed Cali from my hands with an intimidating stare, I backed up until my back connected with the wall. His hands strategically placed on either side of my head insured that I was unable to go anywhere.
Though I didn’t know him extremely well yet, I knew him well enough to know that intense was the mood of the moment. Though his voice was barely above a whisper, there was an element of sinister within his words.
“I’m not a good man. I’m not a kind man. People hire me to do terrible, heinous things, and I enjoy my work.”
Why did a comment like that leave me feeling weak in my knees? Evidently he read me correctly because a look of amusement crossed his face, as one side of his
