on the third floor trying to figure out how to take it apart and clean it. It took me two hours and I ended up searching the library for anything to help. There was a set of shelves set apart that had weaponry written above it. When I took a closer look I saw that it had manuals for all kinds of guns, searching the bookcase I found a large manual that had MP5 written on the side. Taking it to a table in the centre of the room, I sat down and read through it and found it had an idiots guide to stripping down the rifle. Now I can be a bit of an idiot at times so I slowly followed the instructions and had it stripped and cleaned fairly quickly. After making sure it was in working order I stood to go back to the security office.
Flicking through the cameras I saw that Chris had moved from the dining room and was asleep in one of the officers’ quarters. Tracy had stopped her wandering in her room and sat looking at a blank wall. I sat watching them both when my stomach rumbled. I’d been on the go from first thing this morning and I hadn’t had anything to eat since breakfast. I headed to the dining room and kitchen to grab some food for myself and Chris. I hummed and hawed about if I should feed Tracy, but after what Chris said I decided I better. The sandwiches weren’t great but they would do for the time being. Grabbing a couple of bottles of water I headed for Chris’ room first. Opening the door I saw him lying on his side with his back to me.
“Chris I’ve got something for you to eat mate.” I said.
“I’m not hungry.” Came the rumbled reply.
“You need to eat.” I said walking over to the bed.
“Fine leave it on the table and get the fuck out.” He said rolling over to look at me through his red puffy eyes.
I put the food on the table and headed for the door.
“Marc…” I turned round to look at him “I’m sorry I swore at you mate. Thanks for the food.”
“Hey look I bet you would have done the same for me.” I replied.
He nodded and rolled back over on to his other side. I left and headed down to the room that Tracy had been locked up in. Taking the key I unlocked the door and pushed it open. Half expecting Tracy to come jumping out at me. I saw that she was still sitting on the bed looking at the wall with a blank expression on her face. Putting the food and bottle of water down just inside the door. I closed it and walked back to the room I had been using. Sitting down at the small coffee table, I now had time to think of what had happened. I still couldn’t get my head round why the women had thought we were going to treat them in the same way the bikers did and to take that to the point where they kill Jay. Nope I just couldn’t think of it.
Chris was a worry I was so used to him being the leader and being the large strong person to go with it. Seeing him with those red eyes and huddled up on the bed made him seem small and weak. I had to think of some way to bring him round, but I couldn’t think of anything.
Chapter Six
The one thing I could do was get rid of Tracy. With her staying here, she would be a constant reminder of what had happened. I finished my sandwich and grabbed my rucksack as I left my room. I had emptied it the night before so it was empty. Heading to the kitchen I loaded it with M.R.E’s, enough for a week and seven bottles of water. If she was careful she might be able to make that last. Next stop was the armoury where I grabbed a combat knife, a small first aid kit, a sleeping bag and poncho. After packing them in the rucksack I grabbed a 9mm Sig from the racks and filled a mag. As I headed down in the lift I had second thoughts about what I was going to do, but if I was going to get Chris back on an even keel I had to get her out of the bunker. I stopped outside her room and made sure the safety was on the pistol and there was round in the chamber. The rucksack was on the floor near
