CHAPTER FOURTEEN

    9.20pm. Luigi's Kitchen.

Jack hit his shoulder hard against the door. It moved slightly . The redheaded vampire let out an angry scream. She had been tormenting them by walking slowly. Now she realised they might escape.
Suddenly, the vampire and her human soldier started to run towards Amy and Jack.
Amy's heart was pounding . She had never been this scared in all her life. She desperately wanted to live, she didn't want to die. Amy was so scared, time seemed to slow and she had an idea.
"Jack," she said, "I'll count to three and then we will push as hard as we can. One, two, three!"
The two teenagers pushed with all their strength. The door opened!
The vampire’s eyes widened in shock. Anger exploded inside her. She was almost at the door.
    "Quick, let's go," said Jack.
They went through the door into the dark alley. Jack saw a huge crate of bottles , it had been blocking the door. He put the crate against the door. On the other side of the door, the vampire was pushing powerfully. She was extremely strong. The door was opening. Jack used his body to hold it shut.
"Run Amy!" he called, "she's too strong. I'll hold the door. You save yourself."
Amy looked at Jack. She saw how brave he was.
"No!" Amy shouted, " you risked your life for me once tonight. I won’t leave you."
Amy was desperately thinking of something to do. She could see the vampire's arm coming through the space in the door. Her nails were sharp and she was trying to scratch Jack.
At that moment, Amy hated the redheaded vampire with all her heart. Why were the vampires doing this? What had the humans ever done to hurt them? All her life Amy had hated bullies, strong people who hurt weaker people. The redheaded vampire was a bully. She was stronger and more powerful than Amy and Jack. It made Amy burn with anger.
Suddenly, Amy saw a shovel lying on the ground. She had an idea. She picked it up. Next, Amy aimed the sharp, flat part towards the vampire’s arm. Amy ran extremely fast towards the arm. The shovel cut off the vampire's arm. Blood gushed from the vampire's arm, like a red river. The door slammed shut . Behind the door the vampire screamed in pain. She was angry and she killed the human soldier. His blood mixed with her blood. The kitchen looked like a nightmare.
The arm was lying on the ground in the alley. Amy and Jack watched as it changed into black liquid.
"Come on," said Amy, "let's go."
Together they ran down the alley.
"What do we do now?" said Amy.
"I know," said Jack, "follow me."
Jack went over to Travis' car and smashed the window. He opened the door from the inside. Amy and Jack got into the car.
"But we don't have the keys!" said Amy.
"Don't worry," said Jack, "I stole them from Travis when the vampire attacked you. I thought we might need them."
    "Oh, wonderful!" said
