    Dana’s phone rang and he picked it up. “Hello?”
    The familiar voice on the other end was Stu’s. “How’s it going?”
    “Well, as you know, I just got here and I’m still getting acclimated, but so far everything is great. I don’t see any reason we can’t open on time.”
    “Good. Michelle is almost finished with Fallon and she’ll be up there to help. But that isn’t why I called.”
    “Oh!”
    “I called because I just finished meeting with your wife about our agreement and I’m sure she’ll be calling you. The first thing she said when I broached the subject was, ‘Why wouldn’t I have a baby with my own husband?’ I asked if she’d ever talked to you about children and she said no, so when she calls and I’m sure she will, you’ll need to act cool toward the idea of children.”
    He laughed. “That shouldn’t be hard. I don’t want children—least not yet.”
    “Good. It looks like we’re thinking alike. It sounded like with your blessing she’d go for it.”

    “I’m just getting started, but so far it seems doable. How about your job?”

    “Yes, I visited Stuart’s office at his request yesterday, and he laid out an intriguing proposition.”
