Succulent
from the
back porch as his wife cleaned the kitchen. She’d just given the
kids their snack before sending them off to do homework.
“Maggie and I just finished fixing up the
cabin.” His older brother John said raising his beer bottle to his
lips. “Take her there, we’ll take the kids.” John took a gulp.
    “What?”
“Sure, Maggie’s been bugging me to have
another baby since David went off to school. She’s almost forty.
Said she only has about five good years left.” John said he took
another gulp. “She’d love to baby the kids for a few days.”
Grayson looked in at her as their son Phil
walked in with his paper. He asked her something and she smiled
kissing his forehead. Grayson smiled watching her. She wore yoga
pants and a yoga top in hopes that she would be able to workout
tonight without incident. That almost never happened around their
house. But she did look real damn good in that outfit.
Josie was a size fourteen with an ass that
didn’t disappoint and hips to go with it. He’d spend hours watching
her luscious curvy body, as it moved around the house, cleaning, on
Saturday’s, all the while waiting somewhat impatiently for their
time together. He loved his wife to death. He loved her body.
Phil gave the paper to her and she read it
over before explaining to him what he needed to do. Phil, who’s
six, was their youngest. Their oldest was Grace, now nine. Their
kids favored both of their parents. Both had Josie’s warm toasted
almond skin and curly hair. They both had Grayson’s amber eyes and
were tall for their ages. Grace was almost five-two and only in
fourth grade.
Grayson and Joanne (Josie) had been married
eight years and together for fourteen. They met in college. He was
graduating and she was in her junior year. It was instant for them
but they didn’t start dating right away. In fact when he graduated
she didn’t see him for a year. Then all of a sudden there he was,
cheering her on at her graduation. She could remember holding him
so tightly and just loving the feeling of his arms around her. They
began dating and the rest is history. Their love bloomed, bursting
at the seams and was still bursting at the seams.
Now here they were. Still paying off student
loans, two kids and a house into a life together and he couldn’t
want or ask for an ounce more than this. He was happy to be more
than honest. He loved his wife and his kids so much.
“That sounds like a good idea.” He said
sipping his beer. “Maybe I’ll surprise her with a trip this
weekend, while the kids are off for winter break.”
“That’s perfect. You’re both off too right.
You can leave on Saturday and come back Friday or something.” John
said. Grayson hadn’t really thought of that he was thinking the
weekend into Monday tops. But now that he was thinking of it, it
was a really good idea. A week away in the woods, wrapped in her
luscious, sinfully delicious body.
“Yeah.” He said. He looked in at her. She
was so pretty. Still she had that brightness in her eye that the
world hadn’t stomped out yet. Josie always made him smile. Always
made him brighten in some way. That was what got his attention
first, her prettiness followed. That whole year apart from her, he
found himself unable to recreate the chemistry he felt with her,
that very first night, with any other woman. It was electric and
she was a lot of fun.
They were both professors at local colleges.
Their pay was good but the stress wasn’t good. Between work, kids
and life, they were fighting the battle back to back.
“I’ll run it past her tonight.” Grayson
said. John nodded.
“I’ll drop off the keys at your office.” He
said. Grayson looked in at her again, wondering if he should just
surprise her with the weeklong trip.
That night she crawled into bed wearing one
of her satiny nightgowns he loved so much. Josie rubbed lotion into
her hands shaking her head.
    “I moisturize every single night and look;
my hands still
