    "Hmmm. You two aren't really siblings though. Your parents got married when you two were teenagers right?"
    "Yeah." Ryker sighed; coming out to the bar was a bad, bad idea. But he had nowhere else to go. At least when they were teenagers they lived in a massive house, they wouldn’t have to even see each other if they didn’t want to. But his tiny apartment put them way too close.
    He shrugged, turning his full attention to Ryker. "So if you and her wanted to..."
    "No. No we couldn't." Ryker's jaw clenched as he pretended to be interested in people on the dance floor.
    "Hmmm."
    Ahhhh fuck . Adam had been Ryker's partner and best friend for a little over a year now, and lying to him wasn't the easiest thing to do. By the expression on Adam's face, it was clear he was already piecing together the reason for his anxiety.
    Ryker took a moment to evaluate how intoxicated his partner was before continuing the line of conversation. Determining that Adam would only remember a minimum of their conversation he decided to share the feelings he'd been fighting with for days.
    "Well. Hypothetically speaking. What happens if I did allow something to happen? What then?"
    "Great sex?" Adam grinned, giving his eyebrows a wiggle. "Great bareback sex even. Oh man, I’d love to have a girl I didn’t have to wrap it for, for a change."
    Ryker huffed. "I mean..."
    Adam turned to face him. “Listen, Ryker. You're not in Bangor anymore. No one here knows her or you for that matter. You're siblings by marriage only and it's not like you two have to go introducing her as your sister/girlfriend."
    "What if it doesn't work? Again, hypothetically speaking."
    "It's not like she's some girl you're picking up at a bar that you're going to fuck for a while and toss to the curb when you get bored." Adam shrugged, taking a swig from his beer. "Talk to her, see where she is. If there’s feelings between you two you can’t keep avoiding her and ignoring it, hoping it’ll go away."
    Ryker nodded.
    "And for the record, this is only my second beer, asshole. I'll remember every word of this hypothetical conversation come Monday morning."
    Ryker grimaced as he stood. "Right. Great."
    "Just do me a favour and when you come to work Monday morning, this crap that's had your head fucked up will be cleared up. I don't feel like getting shot in the line of duty because my partner doesn't have enough common sense to fuck a woman who wants him and he wants in return."
    "Yup." He nodded toward the group of women dancing on the dance floor that Adam had been eyeing since he walked in. "Good luck."
