different if I hadn’t had a kind, caring man to help me through all this. ’ She looked up just in time to meet his gaze as he looked her way. They both smiled.
Kate noticed the look between the two of them and recognized it. It was the way she and James looked at each other. Whether or not the two of them knew it, Marcus and Selene were falling in love.
“So, what do you want us to do about this killer werewolf problem?” asked Lin, growing impatient. The constant interruptions during her dates with her boyfriend were causing them to grow apart. She feared that pretty soon he might break up with her because of it. “I’ve seen you all when you’re in wolf form. It would be pretty hard for us witches and mere humans to take down a werewolf.”
“Good point, and I’ve considered that and thought of a plan to work around that issue,” said Marcus. “No mortal will go looking for this beast alone; they will be accompanied by at least one werewolf. Every mortal will be heavily armed with potions and weapons to defend themselves. We’ll go in shifts looking for this beast that defiles werewolf kind.”
“Sounds good to me,” agreed Yvonne.
“Me, too,” said Lucius. He would, of course, insist to be grouped with Yvonne to make sure she is safe.
“Listen, Marcus,” said Charlie. “I want you to take the rest of the day off. You’re not even supposed to be working today. Now I know a lot is going on and you’re doing what you felt you had to do, but you’ve been through a lot. You need to go home, get some rest, and try to get your mind off things for a little while.”
Marcus thought about what his father had said for a moment. It was a good idea. He definitely needed a little time to clear his head. And he could bring Selene with him to keep him company. That way, she wouldn’t have to spend the night alone in the guest room in the facility. They definitely needed each other’s company right now. He could sense her fear and need for a companion, while he was in need of cheering up. And being alone with her had its’ good points, too.
“Yes, Marcus, after this meeting, please take the rest of the day off,” said Yvonne. “We’ve got things from here until tomorrow.”
    “Okay, I will. Thank you.”
After that, everyone was assigned to groups. Charlie would stay at the agency. Yvonne and Lucius were paired together and were the first group to work a shift; between Yvonne’s advanced magical knowledge and abilities and Lucius’ strength and fighting skills, they didn’t need any help. Lin, Damian, and Devon were grouped together and made up the second shift. Kate took time off, due to her pregnancy, and agreed to help Charlie part time and do mild chores around the agency. James was the only werewolf in his group; the other members consisted of Tyrone, Lana, Rocco, and Angelina.
Once everyone left, Marcus boldly asked Selene, “Would you like to go out to dinner with me?”
“Yes, definitely. That sounds wonderful.” She smiled. Pleased she was going to get to spend time with him.

~ Chapter Seven ~

Knowing exactly what she was craving, Marcus took Selene to a restaurant nearby his apartment that served the best steak. As soon as Selene’s meal arrived, she began to wolf it down.
Marcus laughed and whispered to her, “Don’t eat so fast when you’re in public. People are going to wonder how your food disappeared so fast.”
Selene swallowed her mouthful of meat and said, “We wouldn’t want that now, would we?”
Marcus laughed at her witty response and she laughed along with him. He couldn’t get over how cute she was and how much he was drawn to her.
“So, what would you like to do after dinner?” he asked casually.
“If you want, we can maybe go back to your place.” She smiled and blushed; she couldn’t get the thought of their kiss off her mind. She was hoping to be able to experience that again, and more.
“That sounds nice.” He smiled back. He was
