his
    magnificent male part. She shivered.
Damien was not in the room. Her heart sank. Not wanting to
acknowledge the feelings suddenly stirring inside her, Elise gathered a
thin sheet from the bed and got up. She wrapped the sheet around
herself, wincing at the soreness between her thighs. She stepped out
of the room, her legs shaking.
The moment she left Damien's chamber, Elise found herself back in
her father's Cottage, dressed in her simple gray dress. Fear suddenly
gripped her. Immediately she grabbed the pendant Damien had given
her. Almost instantly, she heard a deep resonating dis-embodied
    voice.
No fear sweet Elise. I am with you. When the King's men come
and take you back to the castle, just do as you did before. All will be
    well.
Damien's voice faded into the wind. The door to the cottage swung
open and a burly knight, she recognized from before appeared.
    "Are you ready lass?"
    Elise nodded.

CHAPTER SIX
Damien watched Elise step into the King's carriage. Anger stirred
in his gut for a moment when the big man held onto her small waist as
she climbed in. The thought of another man touching her, no matter
how innocent, created unusual feelings of possessiveness that
    confused him.
His kind did not have emotions. Leastways, not the kind that
govern mortals. Yet it was undeniable, the sudden sensations he felt
whenever Elise got close. Even now, her scent permeated around
him. It clung to his skin, drowning him in her sweet essence.
His cock pulsed and lengthened with the memory of their
lovemaking. Lovemaking? Was that what they had shared? Bah! He
had fucked her. That was all. Fucked her and relished every
succulent second of it. Relished her. And he longed for more, needed
more. Nothing would ever satisfy him again.
Never had he felt such intense pleasure in another living being.
Elise... Strange warmth settled inside his chest. He looked around the
empty dining hall. It lacked something. Something he had long ago
given up on. They had made love. Elise had somehow burrowed into
his shriveled heart and awakened a need that Damien would have
    never thought possible.
Elise... Her name echoed in his mind and for once in centuries since
his imprisonment within the walls of Darkhaven, a tiny flicker of hope
began to spark deep inside his dark soul.
Damien flashed himself to his study. Opening the dark oak armoire
next to his bookshelves, he pulled out the ancient scrolls and unrolled
them. Long ago, he had sent his servants to Hades, on a quest to find
the Scrolls of Damnation. It seemed almost futile, yet he couldn't help
the sudden flare of determination, leading him to search again for an
end to his curse. A name that was all he needed; the name of the one
who imprisoned him. This time he would find it.

Elise sat on the floor of a large cave. Before her was an impossible
task. She had been dumped in the middle of Spirit Isle. It was a

barren wasteland that had once been used by mages and witches as a
place of worship. Now it lay lifeless and full of old wives tales that
had been passed down to every generation by the local townsfolk.
However, it wasn't the stories of curses, ghosts or evil that lurked
here, which frightened Elise. It was the enormous piles of stones
covering nearly every inch of the circular cavern.
Each pile had crates of golden straw, she recognized from the first
trial. She was to weave baskets with the straw and miraculously
transform every stone in to rubies, diamonds and sapphires.
Elise got up and walked to the entrance to watch the king's men row
away from the isle. Once they were far enough away, she ducked
back in and stood in the middle of the cave.
Taking a deep breath, Elise grasped the pendant around her neck
and prayed for a miracle. The moment her palm touched it, the
pendant began to hum. She lowered her hand and opened her eyes.
Elise gasped and took a step back. Like before, the tiny gargoyle
    creatures
