if it appreciated his admiration the clock chimed the hour. The walls were sparsely decorated, only three oil paintings of wilderness landscapes, one on each wall. Gold satin-like drapes covered the two windows.
“Thanks,” Merck said, smiling as Jace turned to him. “I figured it could go either way. I suppose when I get married my wife or wives will want to change it.”
“Whoa there, hot stuff! Wives? Are you into polygamy?” Jace was shocked and it showed. The cock which had been begging to get out of his jeans wilted considerably.
    Wives? Marriage?
Merck shook his head, his smile widening. “Well, I’m not. I’m not crazy enough to take on two or more women by myself. But I suppose I’ll be like my fathers. One or two of my brothers and me will probably marry a couple of women. Maybe three.” Broad shoulders lifted. “There are all kinds of family groups in and around Silver. I personally have three fathers, all brothers, married to two women, my mothers.”
It was a lot to take in. Jace stared at him. Then he got to thinking about it. If there was really something to this fiery attraction to Merck, something that could last more than a few nights together, would it be possible for them to share a woman? That woman would be Piper Barrows, of course. They both wanted her. Neither of them had hidden that fact. And they wanted each other.
Being bisexual had proven kinda rough once he was an adult and experimenting sexually. He enjoyed being with women as much as he did men. It was one of the reasons he had shied away from committing himself to one person. There were times when he just didn’t feel whole, as if something was missing from his life. If he had chosen to live a straight, monogamous life, then he would have been cheating the other half of his sexual being. The same with if he had chosen to commit himself to a man. Neither relationship would have given him the fulfillment he would want in life.
But now there was a chance he could be complete. Jace’s heart beat heavily with hope as he looked at Merck. The instant attraction he had felt in the town’s square was quickly turning into something much bigger, something far more tangible.
    “Is it really that easy?”
“What?” Merck sounded distracted, perhaps because Jace was peeling off the dark-blue Henley thermal shirt he was wearing. Amber-colored eyes devoured him, sweeping over his bared torso. “What was the question?”
“Is it that easy sharing a woman or women?” he repeated, a smile tugging at his mouth.
Broad shoulders lifted, but the golden eyes never moved far from his mid-section. “It is here. And it’s how it’s been in Silver for more than a hundred years. The men who founded this town did so in order to make it a place for people like them, where they could be themselves without bigotry and hatred.” He frowned. “Even though many of them had been strictly gay, they married women so they could have heirs for the great fortunes they were building. Some had male partners as well. And that’s how the unique society in Silver was created. It’s not perfect, but the sense of freedom here is remarkable. If you stay around long enough, you’ll see that for yourself.”
“Very daring for the time.” Jace reached for the man standing nervously beside the bed. “Right at this moment I can’t see any reason to go running from Silver. I want to see this town of yours, meet its people.”
“We can do that tomorrow,” Merck said absently as Jace shoved his hands under the man’s shirt, pushing it up and off. He tossed it to the floor with his. “Oh, fuck yes!” Merck hissed when Jace leaned down to latch onto a pebbled nipple and began to alternate between sucking and nipping the rigid flesh. When he thought the first was properly loved, he moved to the second, lavishing the same sweet attention upon it until strong hands were gripping his shoulders and Merck was reduced to begging. “Please, Jace. I can’t take
