trying to keep up with
her fast sing song voice. El was mortified at being caught in a
liplock with Mr. Sexy and she froze up unable to say a word.
Morpheus just looked…tickled, for lack of a better word. He seemed
happy the kids had caught them and she couldn’t understand why.
She dropped her legs and arms from where they
were wrapped around him and moved back so fast she almost fell onto
the bed she had wanted just moments before. She finally found her
voice, “Cassie, it was just a friendly kiss,” she said.
Morpheus stood looking at her disbelieving
she would even attempt to put such a mild term on what had just
passed between them. Even Cassie and Donnie didn’t look convinced.
She turned bright red, not so much from having been caught in a
totally compromising situation by her children, but because she was
lying and doing it badly. Even a kid could see she was totally
crushing on the massive god. Ah, hell, what was she going to do
about it?
“It’s okay, kids. Me and your mommy were just
practicing acting married in case someone comes looking for us,”
Morpheus said. It looked like he was going to back her up even if
he wasn’t happy about it.
“Uh, huh,” Cassie said still looking
completely unconvinced. She took Donnie’s hand leading him out of
the room. “Let’s let them get back to their…practice.” She closed
the door as they left with one look back at them and a shake of her
head.
“Oh my God. What will they think?”
“That their mother is also a woman?”
    “You don’t understand.”
“Are you ashamed of wanting me?”
She looked at him. What woman wouldn’t want
him? “No, but they need their mother to be focused on them. I’m all
they’ve got.”
“They have a large extended family. They’ve
told me quite a bit about them.”
“I mean I’m their only parent. I have to be
both mother and father to them.”
“Maybe you need to find someone who’s willing
to help you with that.” His beautiful gray eyes were warm and
willing. If only she could just forget her crazy life and take the
shelter he offered even for a little while. And why couldn’t she?
Didn’t she deserve a little something for herself?
She stood still looking at the big, sexy
man/god in front of her. She could hear the kids in the living room
watching cartoons. No matter where they were or what kind of TV
services, cable, satellite, or the old fashioned antennas, Cassie
had a talent for finding every and any cartoon on whatever station
it was on. They were laughing uproariously, it must be a funny
cartoon.
Morpheus was standing close to her now,
almost touching. When had he moved? She lifted her face up to look
at him. He was so close it put a cramp in the back of her neck to
look up. He knew just what to do, he lifted her with his hands
squeezing her ass. She barely knew him yet she felt oddly drawn to
him. The kids liked him too and she had found they were a good
judge of character. As young as they had been when their father
left, neither of them had liked him much. Cassie especially had
kept her distance from him and had a cool relationship with
him.
He hadn’t cared, he hadn’t wanted her to
shower him with affection or show him love in any way. She should
have realized as soon as Cassie was born that he was no good and
sent him on his way, but she wouldn’t have Donnie now if she had.
She could feel Morpheus pulling her up against him and her arms
wrapped around his neck as her legs wrapped around his waist. Was
it wrong to take this moment for herself? To take what pleasure he
wanted to give her even if it was just for the moment?
His lips descended on hers and he consumed
her. Any thought she might have had, was impossible to follow. She
opened up to him letting him lead her down a path of pleasure
impossible to deny. How could anything this unbelievably good be
wrong? She lifted her arms as he pulled her shirt over her head.
She wanted to feel her skin against his, the need was simply
