activities, I jump into the shower. My hasty actions will probably cause problems that I don’t want to deal with. Liam has always been good to me and now I have cheated on him. When I finish my shower I’m telling Ethan this isn’t going to work. Then I will forget this ever happened and work things out with Liam.
Ethan has ordered room service. In the living room, a circular dining table holds all my favorites: fresh fruit, scrambled eggs with onions, cheeses, peppers and bacon.
“Morning.”
“Morning,” I reply. “We need to talk.”
“We have the entire day for talking, let’s eat first.”
I’m reluctant to sit down, but I’m famished. While Ethan prepares my plate, my phone begins to vibrate. There are three missed calls from Liam and a text.
Missing you, will call again tomorrow.
I go from feeling bad to feeling like a low-life.
Turning the screen off, I slip the phone back in my purse. This talk cannot wait any longer, what am I doing here?
“Is everything alright, Giselle?”
“No, it’s not.”
“Tell me what’s on your mind.”
I chew my eggs before responding, “We can’t do this, Ethan.”
“Do what exactly? Obviously you’re not getting what you need from the guy you call your man. Come on, Giselle, our history runs deep.”
I stuff my mouth to get my thoughts together.
“Would you like some juice, Giselle?”
“Sure, thanks.”
He pours me a glass of cranberry. He lifts my chin up in his direction and gives me the best morning kiss I’ve ever had. Maybe I should stay. No, this isn’t right . I pull back suddenly and his eyes shoot open. Frustrated, Ethan takes a seat at the opposite end of the table.
Putting the napkin back in his lap he states, “I could apologize for kissing you or putting you in this situation, but I won’t. I’ve been waiting for years to be with you. Now I’ll never let you go.”
“I’m just really confused and have mixed feelings, Ethan. This isn’t fair to Liam and I don’t want to hurt him.”
Ethan has a photo shoot this afternoon and I go to Indulgence . We’re going to meet later, but I may cancel. I want to call Marcia, but she’s on her honeymoon and it wouldn’t be right to burden her with my problems. Carmen would be there for me, but the situation is touchy since Liam is Cooper’s cousin and I don’t want to put her in the middle of anything. Crap, my life has become complicated in the last few days.
Thank goodness Indulgence is running smoothly. In the short time that we have opened our catering business we have been tremendously successful. Liam is the chef and I get to focus on my favorite aspect of cooking, which is baking. Now we are planning to incorporate hosting functions here. Our space is enormous and since Marcia paid off our mortgage, we have extra funds available to revamp the unfinished area. The kitchen is complete and up to code but we haven’t decided exactly what we want to do with the empty space.
My hands tremble as I dial Liam’s number. He picks up on the first ring.
“Hi, baby.”
“Hey.”
There’s a lot of noise in the background.
“I was getting ready to call you. Today we’re going to be busy and this is the only time I’m free to talk.”
“Don’t let them work you too hard.”
“I won’t. I miss you.”
“You’ll be home soon.”
“Yeah, how was the meeting yesterday?”
“They want us to cater their wedding and they’re looking for a venue for the reception. I was thinking since the wedding is a few months away, we would have time to refurbish the large area in front and could have the reception here.”
“That sounds perfect, make it happen.”
“Okay, I’ll start today.”
“Babe, I have to go, miss you.”
This is the second time he has said this, tears form in my eyes.
“I miss you too.”
Before leaving our office, I grab my
