milk and cookies. You not being a gentleman is fine with me, Alex. I prefer that you weren’t.” I reached up and caressed his face with my fingertips. I let my finger trace around his perfect full lips. He had my lipstick on his mouth and I wiped it off.
“Prudence, we have to control ourselves. I was over-the-top happy that night. I wouldn’t have used my best judgment with you then. I wouldn’t have been able to control myself, like tonight when I have time to think. Besides, I’m still sore from the accident and not up to par. Let’s go out and get to know each other, not like campaign manager and candidate, but a woman and a man. I don’t want to rush us. Believe me, I would love nothing more than to take you into that bedroom and explore every inch of your body. The thought of touching and teasing every part of you, makes my head spin. I have done nothing but think of you since the campaign started.”
    He walked away from me.
    “Are you hungry?” He asked.
He tried to change the subject, walking to the door, giving me a glimpse of his amazing ass; I couldn’t help but notice during the campaign. It was tight, round and totally bitable. I was hungry all right. My appetite for him raged.
“Sure. I would love to go eat and maybe we could come back here, relax, or pick up where we left off. Maybe if I get you drunk, Alex, I can take advantage of you.”
“You are a stubborn woman, aren’t you?” he asked.
He looked around at my condo, taking it in.
“I try to get what I want.”
I walked over to the music, turned it off, and put my bottle of wine away in the refrigerator, my legs still unsteady after our make out session.
“This place is nice. A lot different than the trailer you lived in,” he said. My condo was my little piece of heaven that I could escape into after a long day of class and work. Everything in it was a reflection of my personality. I loved antiques and Americana decorations and the fact that it was all mine.
“Who would’ve ever guessed I would be living in this at twenty-three? Beulah wanted me close to school and work.”
I grabbed my purse and put it over my shoulder; made sure I had my keys, and hit the lights. I caught him looking me up and down with a look in his eyes I had not noticed before. His eyes seemed darker and more mysterious.
We got in his car and headed to a quaint little Italian restaurant downtown. Alex said it was his favorite.
We talked more than ever on the way to the restaurant. He told me about the car, how the one we were riding in was a loaner, and how he still favored his old Fiat on the weekends.
We discussed Ohio and the fact that he has not been back since he was shot. I wish we could just drive for days and talk. I felt so at ease with him, so relaxed. We talked during the campaign but couldn’t discuss anything personal. I loved knowing other things about him. Everything he said interested me.
When we walked into the restaurant, we were seated right away even though there were people waiting. Heads turned and nodded to acknowledge the new senator. The owner of the restaurant, Giovanni, came out from the kitchen, shook his hand, and congratulated him on his win in the senate.
“Congratulations. I make a special batch of sauce just for you, Senator,” he said.
He grabbed Alex’s face and kissed him on both cheeks.
“Chi è questa donna bellissima con voi?”
“Grazie Giovanni. Questa bella donna è la prudenza. Lei è un vecchio amico.” The senator spoke fluent Italian.
“Ah, si, si. Lei è bella con quei capelli rosso fuoco,” said Giovanni pointing to his head.
“Yes, that she is, Giovanni. That she is,” said Alex.
Giovanni led us to a quiet table where we could be alone in the back of the restaurant. People whispered and watched us, but let him have his privacy. The room was dark, and the tables had candles and white table clothes. Dean Martin sang in the background.
“What were you saying to Giovanni?” I asked as
