People always bring it up. Maybe somewhere deep inside, I’ve always wondered why we’re so good at being friends, but nothing else.”
Flynn sets his glass down and stares at the table for a minute. When he looks up, fixing his blue eyes on me, he leans close and cups my face. He smiles, but there’s a tinge of sadness hidden behind it.
“Yes, Brooklyn. I’ve thought about making love to you. More than once. I’ve thought about kissing you many, many times. I’m thinking about it right now.”
    “And?”
“And I love you. You know that. You mean everything to me, and I would never risk our friendship even for the chance to touch you the way I really want to sometimes.”
“So even if I asked you to make love to me, you would say no? If I snuck in your room, you would send me away?”
He nods. “I would.” He leans in a little closer. “Listen to me, Brooks. You’re the best person I know. I want you to be in my life forever, and if we dated, if we fucked, we’d risk that. You know it as much as I do. Neither one of us are good at relationships, but we’re perfect friends.”
I smile and lean forward, softly kissing his lips, as I’ve done a thousand times. “Okay, Flynn. I agree with you, but sometimes I think about it. That’s all.”
“When you’re lonely. If you ever think about me when you’re not, let me know.”
I watch as he sips his beer, while his words hang in the air between us. Maybe he’s right. The only time I want him is when I don’t have something else going. Or is it that I always want him and just get distracted by others sometimes? I take a swig of beer and smile. It doesn’t matter. He’s right. A relationship between us would be a disaster. Flynn and I could never be anything but friends.

Hours later, I’m lying in bed staring at the ceiling, knowing Brooklyn is just down the hall from me. She’s naked, she always sleeps naked I learned after our first weekend living together.
Heading into the kitchen for a glass of water, I stop when I see Brooklyn reaching for something in a cupboard. She’s wearing a short robe, untied, and nothing else. Literally nothing else. Her beautiful bare ass is on full display. As I clear my throat, she jumps, turning around.
“You scared me,” she says, laughing.
“Sorry. I just came for water.”
Her eyes follow mine as they sweep over her near naked form. She makes a little effort to close the robe, hiding the tits I desperately want to see.
“I sleep naked,” she admits. “But I was hungry so I threw this on.”
I nod. “I sleep naked, too.”
Smiling, she walks toward me. “Clothes are such a pain, aren’t they?”
    “Yeah.”
“If I could, I would be naked all the time. Can you imagine me teaching a yoga class with no clothes on?”
Fuck yeah, I can. “Could be distracting.”
She laughs softly. “Well,” she says, dragging her hand across my chest. “Good night.”
That sexually charged moment was the beginning of many, and now she’s got me thinking about going to her. Do I think about fucking her? Every damn day. What straight man with eyes and a working dick wouldn’t? It’s just not possible though. Not now, not ever. I know it would fuck everything up. Sex always complicates things. Not to mention I’m a one and done kind of guy. How do I go from that to a relationship kind of guy? How does she?
What sucks is that I know she’ll fuck Rhys. More than once probably. I’ll sit and listen to her talk about it, in detail, wishing it was me. Imagining myself in his place touching that body, kissing that mouth, sinking into that pussy. I might even hear it if she brings him home. I’ll lie here listening to her moaning commands, wishing I could walk in her room and join in, push him off of her, and nail her. Wishing for once, I could just fucking do it, but instead, I’ll sit here. In the morning, I’ll nod and laugh as she describes it all in detail, and remind myself he doesn’t mean
