and clicked on the television.
âWell, you go ahead, girl. I want details.â Stephen walked over and sat down on the couch, then patted the cushion next to him for Cheryl to do the same.
CNN has recently learned that the Yankees have decided to bring up two players from farm teams to play out the rest of the year, in preparation for a possible 100-game suspension of third baseman Alex Rodriguez next season due to his steroid use.
âOooh,â Cheryl said, slowly sinking down onto the plush, velvet couch. âOh, it was good. And something tells me itâs gonna get even better. Believe it or not, heâd never eaten pussy before last night. But, Iâll tell you, the manâs a natural.â
âReally?â Stephen put his hand to his mouth as if surprised. âDo tell me more!â
âStephen, wait.â Cheryl said excitedly. âDid you hear what the announcer said about the Yankees?â
âI wasnât paying attention. What did he say?â
âHe said the Yankees are bringing up a couple of third basemen from the minors to play out the rest of the season.â
âWell, that would only make sense.â Stephen took a sip of his coffee. âAlex Rodriguez can appeal his suspension all he wants, but thereâs no way that fine Latino is going to be playing next season. The Yankees have to bring up a couple of minor leaguers so they can get some experience playing behind Jayson Nix.â
Cheryl nodded. âNix has had a good year on third, and the Yankees are going to be banking on getting Rodriguez back as soon as the suspension is over, so they probably arenât going to try to spend any really big bucks bringing in a free agent.â
âRight. So they bring in a couple of guys now, see whoâs best, and decide who theyâll sign for next season to play behind Nix.â
âOkay, listen to this,â Cheryl said animatedly. âRandy is a third baseman.â
âWhoâs Randy?â Stephen looked puzzled.
âYou know him better by young country bumpkin.â Cheryl rolled her eyes. âAnyway, he plays for the Yankees farm team in Scranton.â
Stephen sat up straight. âUh-huh. And?â
âAnd it turns out that all of a sudden heâs being courted by a big-name sports agent.â
âUh-huh, uh-huh,â Stephen said eagerly. âAnd?â
âAnd did I mention that he asked me to marry him?â
âGirl, stop!â Stephen jumped off the couch, spilling his coffee onto the hardwood floor. âOh, now look what youâve made me do. Please donât tell me he was serious, and you better not be telling me that if he was serious that youâre considering doing it. And puleeze donât tell me youâre marrying the next Alex Rodriguez.â Stephen stopped abruptly, as if a thought suddenly hit him. âGirl, young country bumpkin is a might too ugly to be replacing that handsome-ass Alex.â
âIf he makes it to the majorsâeven if he only makes the league minimum of four hundred thousandâhe can afford to get a good haircut, and a whole bunch of Proactiv.â Cheryl leaned back, and crossed her legs; a satisfied smile on her face. âBut letâs see what happens in the next few months before we start shopping for a wedding dress.â
