There was a gasp heard as Jackson fell forward. Brett looked on as the other men began to assess the situation. One of them pulled Jackson off Charles and looked at the dart. Smelling it, he noticed the sent and shook his head. Grinning, he took off in the woods and did not look back.
Round Two
Brett assessed the situation and saw that the men began to question each other in their minds. The Queen had left enough doubt in the minds of these men that they began to turn to their natural instincts of survival. A few of the men went off on their own, Brett was sure that they had not moved too far from each other. He went back towards the river. He was sure no one had seen the cave. He wanted to think about the current situation that they were in and then he heard the cannon fire 5 times. Bret figured that these were to mark the deaths. He found a makeshift bowl to add water to. He filled the bowl with water and put in a tablet to purify the water.
The sun had not set yet, so he pulled out the list that Viviana gave him. He looked in his bag and grabbed a piece of scorched wood from the fire he had grabbed. He had never met Queen Alexandra, only had heard of her. She destroyed men at will and he was not planning on being one of her last victims. Clenching his jaw, he studied the list. Every last man there had been to a war of their own countries making. He heard the footsteps before he saw them. Moving back into the cave, he peeked out to see Brian and Mark talking by the river.
“I saw him come this way.” Brian stated.
“Well maybe he got lost along the way.” Mark muttered. “Where did you go to war? Who did you kill?”
“I don’t think we should be discussing this.” Brian answered. “I don’t relive the past. I simply want to survive this.”
“Well we all are going to find out eventually.” Mark answered as he pushed his dark hair out of his eyes, his beard had started growing in. Stepping forward, he walked right into the pool that was to the side of the river and disappeared. Both Brian and Brett looked as this happened. Brian stepped back to wait to see why Mark was gone. It did not take long before Brian knew why, he felt the dart in his neck before he could hear the whoosh it made. Falling forward, he soon joined Mark in the pool.
Brett wondered if what Viviana shared was true about him being the only one that had the list. There was someone out there with a vengeance who knew something. All he wanted to do was survive. Then he thought about Horus, the only one who seemed to say anything when it was announced why they were here.
Quietly the night came as Brett waited, it was the second day that he had gone without food and knew that the water was the only thing saving his life. He waited for the night’s announcement. He was sure it was not to long before it would come out of the air like every night. He grabbed the thin blanket and waited, he figured that the others would do the killing for him as hyped up as they got once it was announced that they had each killed someone within the group. Or at least someone connected to each member. He was partially correct. Most of the men had killed each other once they figured out who the other was.
Alexandra sat in her tower, her eyes on all the men. Each one of them had a different camera that followed them. She had the best technology to watch them. She had cameras on small spy cams that followed the men in silence. She watch Brett, he brooded while he waited. She noticed that he and Horus had managed to avoid the other men almost completely. Her heart raced when she saw that Brian and Mark was close to where Brett was, however she also saw them shot with darts from the treetops. She did not see who it was, she just knew that is how they died. She had started out with 20 men, each one dying within in a few hours of starting.
As she looked on, the ones that were left standing were Brett, Richard, Greg, Horus, and Kyle. She figured that she would
