stop. One of the stairways on wheels she always saw in movies and television shows was clipped to side of the craft, leading up to the cabin door. Nicole set her half empty glass of champagne on the surface of the bar, ready to leave.
"And we've arrived," Kade said. He opened the door and exited the limo, waiting for her to follow. When she did, he took her by the arm with a tender touch. Nicole's heart leaped into her throat. Although nothing sparked between them as he touched her, she couldn't help but feel wanted when he gave her attention like this. What a gentleman.
"The jet was constructed for me. There's no feeling in the world like waking up one day and deciding you'd like to visit Asia — so you do. I hope you feel some of that excitement today. Everyone deserves to feel pampered at least once in their life."
Step by step they climbed the ramp towards the door, each moment more surreal. Nicole's eyes swept down the length of the aircraft. This was real. She was about to hope on a plane to Brazil with five minute's notice.
"If this is pampered, I'd love to know what you consider spoiled."
Kade laughed. It was a light, carefree thing that got beneath Nicole's skin and engrained itself in her mind. The sound was distinctly Kade.
"You'll find out before too long," he admitted. The door to the cabin swung open.
To the left was the captain's quarters, the door already sealed off. A stewardess waited for them, and she bowed her head politely as they entered. She was a skinny, but glamorous woman. Diamond earrings sparkled on her earlobes, and not a hair of her updo was out of place.
"Welcome aboard, Mr. Holland and Ms. Washington. Can I get you something to eat or drink?"
Kade cast her a look, and Nicole saw it was nothing like how he looked at her. There was no lingering quality to it, no interest in his gaze. To him, the gorgeous flight attendant was an employee. Nicole knew she meant more to him than that.
"Cocktails, please, Suki. Something dry for myself, and something sweet and beautiful for Ms. Washington."
Men bought her drinks before, but there was something special about how Kade took control and made choices for her. His power didn’t end with his wealth. Even though he wasn't built like the fighters he promoted, he was in control and not afraid to show it. His assertiveness left her light-headed — or was that the champagne?
    "Of course, Mr. Holland."
Suki, the flight attendant, turned to a compact counter to mix their drinks. Kade gestured into the cabin. It looked unlike any plane Nicole had ever seen.
"This is the main cabin," Kade explained. It seemed a tour was in order. "Behind us is the cockpit, and Suki is standing in the flight attendant's nook. The back door you see behind the seats leads to my favorite part of the jet, but we'll get to that in a second."
When Kade stepped into the cabin, Nicole followed. The seats were a series of wide, comfortable armchairs lining the walls. "For takeoff we need to buckle in," Kade explained, "and we're on a tight schedule, so let’s get going."
The same gentle hand that led her to the ramp now led Nicole to her seat. Without a fuss, Nicole did as she was instructed. As they settled in, Suki brought them two drinks. Kade's was transparent and served in a tall, narrow glass in which floated a slice of lime. Nicole's was served in a martini glass and tinted a blushing pink.
"Please enjoy. We are cleared for takeoff in the next three minutes.”
An aircraft as small as Kade's jet moved smooth and quiet, and Nicole almost didn't notice as they began to taxi.
"If there's anything else I can get you after takeoff, please don't hesitate to let me know.”
Before he replied, Kade lifted his glass to his lips and sipped, allowing the flavor to wash over his tongue. Nicole watched with mute curiosity. Was he aware of how stately he looked doing even the simplest things, or was Kade oblivious to how handsome he was?
"Right now, I'd like you to take it
