the moment you pushed me into that wall.”
Her whispered words struck me straight into my chest. “I know. I’m sorry I took too long,” I murmured.
I moved my nose into her own, playing with her as her hands touched both sides of my face. Exchanging the air between our mouths, I slowly lowered my head and my teeth pulled her lower lip. She closed her eyes and moaned. Wrapping my fingers around the back of her hair, I kissed her hungrily. Like a wild beast looking for water. When our tongues found each other, we both sighed into each other’s mouths. My hand that grabbed Audrey’s waist moved to the small of her back, were I found the hem of her top and found her skin. I felt her legs shake as I crashed our bodies even tighter. Her lips were magical, her kiss, perfection.
“Daddy? Where’s Audrey?” Rachel’s voice took us away from each other, as if a fire in another room had just started. The door opened and a sleepy little girl appeared. “I’m hungry.”
“Let’s eat, then, baby girl,” I picked up Rachel and threw her in the air. She screamed and laughed when I caught her and began to tickle her.
Walking to the kitchen, I made a path with Rachel’s giggles. “I love you, daddy.”
“I love you, too, silly bear.”
When we got to the kitchen and everyone sat around the table, I noticed a very big smile on Audrey and Rachel’s faces. They were whispering to each other as though they were the best of friends and were sharing the best secret in the universe. That made my heart melt. How a person’s life can change so much after so little time?
I didn’t know. What I knew was that Audrey was the answer.
When we finished dinner and Audrey offered to do the dishes, I didn’t accept. I went to her and whispered in her ear, “After you put Rachel to bed, come to me.”
“Hey, I want to know the secret, too,” Rachel said, suddenly, sad.
“Don’t you worry, princess. Maybe we’re giving you a castle for your birthday,” Audrey said and winked at my daughter.
Moments later, I was left all alone in the kitchen, and for the first time since I couldn’t remember, I felt completely happy.

I couldn’t believe what had happened.
Thomas had kissed me, had touched me. And if that wasn’t enough, he had said those things. It seemed our sexual attraction was just the beginning. He was marvelous at every sense of the word. And when he told me he wanted to do better, it really struck me. Sure, I felt hurt and alone when we were over, but the sex had been incredible, even though he hadn’t touched me or kissed me. And now he wanted to do better? What could possibly be better?
With Thomas, however, I knew I would be amazed. Only with him, the kiss happened after the sex part. Everything was different with him. I didn’t know what to expect.
    A beautiful mystery.
So I when I put Rachel to sleep, I didn’t rush it, because I knew he was going to be there waiting for me. And Rachel deserved all the attention she could get, especially since she was my job to take care off. In which, it didn’t feel like a job anymore. I already thought about the Abram’s as my family.
Slowly, I closed Rachel’s door and went to Thomas’ room. When I entered, I found him sitting on his bed with his elbows on his knees, in the dark, simply waiting for me.
“Take your clothes off,” he said, standing up and turning on a lamp. A very smooth light poured into the room. “All of it this time.”
Swallowing hard, I walked to the window and started to run my hands through all the fabrics while the vision outside assaulted me. Everything was covered in snow. It was magical. With every piece of clothing I dropped on the floor, I could hear Thomas do the same behind me.
    I didn’t want to look
