a specific target, then he mightâve thought to add shrapnel to inflict the most damage, but he didnât.â
Brady looked up from a small piece of wood and a knife in his hands. A hyper guy, he often whittled to keep calm. âSetting a bomb is a pretty drastic action just to kill one or two people. I can think of many less risky ways to kill someone.â
Jake faced Skyler. âIâm assuming youâll look at security videos and request street cam, business and MAX footage. Not just for today but earlier on.â
She nodded. âThough Iâd rather not involve the media in this, Iâll also have them issue a plea to the public for any pictures or videos taken of the targeted seating section for our review. And weâll get a team on interviewing ticket holders.â She grabbed her pen. âWhat about potential suspects?â
âThe obvious one is a stadium employee,â Archer said, his intense focus on Skyler. âAnd event crews or even concessions company staff. Theyâd have access and if they were unhappy with their work theyâd have a motive, too.â
âSame with delivery people,â Jake tossed out. âOr recycling company employees who pick up green products.â
Skylerâs pen raced across the paper.
Cash grinned. âAnd despite what Otto may think, we also canât rule out the players and coaches. Though I suspect Otto wouldnât mind if we limited our inquiries to the opposing team.â
Brady cleared his throat and all eyes turned to him. âDonât forget to add Ms. Curry and Otto.â
âAre you honestly liking them for this?â Cash asked. âI mean, we have no motive for her wanting to do this.â
Brady met Cashâs gaze. âYou havenât been in law enforcement all that long, but we all knowââ
âThe person who reports the crimeââ Skyler finished writing and looked up ââis always a suspect until we can prove otherwise. And that includes finding the motive youâre speaking of.â
âIâm not sure this counts on the motive thing,â Darcie said, âbut Kristaâs wearing designer clothes. Not something she could afford on a preschool teacherâs salary. And I didnât see a wedding ring so thereâs not likely a spouse to pay for the clothes.â
âShe still could be married,â Archer said.
The thought left Cash more unsettled than he wanted to think about.
âOr divorced. Or widowed,â Jake added.
âEasy enough to find out. Iâll ask.â Skyler stepped outside. Cash saw Kristaâs shoulders go up in a defensive posture at the question.
Was she hiding an involvement in the bombing, or did she simply hate personal questions?
Skyler returned. âWidowed. Four years ago.â
Cash sighed, drawing Jakeâs attention so Cash quickly moved on. âIf weâre looking at Krista for this, then we should also look into the woman who incited the crowd. I can check a stadium diagram for her seat number. It may not lead anywhere if she was dodging the rain, but itâs worth a shot.â
âOnce you locate the number, Iâll make it a priority to find her.â Skyler looked around the group. âAny other suggestions or ideas?â
No one spoke.
âOkay, then.â Skyler tucked her notebook in her backpack. âAs Jake said, Iâll be teaming up with the city. Weâll both assign considerable resources to the investigation, but with the number of people to be interviewed, it would be great if everyone volunteered time to help.â
âIâm game.â Brady hopped to his feet.
The others added their agreement.
âGreat,â Skyler said. âIf youâll email your schedules to me, Iâll work you in the rotation. And thanks for the help.â
âThat all?â Brady was clearly itching to get moving. Cash was surprised it had taken him
