skin. She was a free person, ever since she’d been able to release herself from her father’s military confines. One of the first things she did was get a tattoo that started at the base of her back. It was a bottle that was tipped over, the cork slowly turned into little shadows of birds that flew across her body and over her shoulder to her collarbone where they formed the phrase “Free Yourself” written in script. The moment her mother caught sight of her choice of artwork, she almost passed out in hysterics. Piper tried not to take too much pleasure in listening to her father grind his teeth in disapproval. Point, Piper!
“Seriously, Piper, are you not going to tell us?” Brooke asked.
“I don’t kiss and tell. Hey, you’re looking a little red around the nipples Brooke, you might want to go inside.” Brooke looked down and examined her nipples.
“You’re right. Plus, I need to try to tame my hair. I can’t just slip a dress on like you, Piper, and be ready.” There was a bit of a snide tone to Brooke’s voice, but Piper chose to ignore it.
Piper turned to Margo, who was still fully clothed. Piper thought Margo was crazy for thinking Piper was prettier than her. Margo was decked out with olive skin, deep blue eyes and long dark hair. She had curves in all the right places and had that exotic look that brought any man to his knees.
“You have to ignore Brooke. Sometimes she can get a little snippy.”
“It’s alright. No biggie. So you, Lexi and Brooke met in college?”
“Yes we did. Lexi and I were on the softball team together and we were also roommates. I don’t think I could have gotten through those four years without her. The hell we were put through was enough to make someone jump off a cliff, but she made it easier. Brooke came along the last year in college. She was dating Mason, I think for three years by then; we met them through Jake who Lexi started dating. As you know, Jake and Mason played football together for the school. They were amazing together on the field. I really hoped that when they were drafted, they would be drafted together, but Jake ended up in San Diego and Mason was drafted to the Denver Stallions.” Margo leaned forward and lowered her voice. “Brooke and Mason were engaged right out of college and were supposed to get married this year as well, but Brooke broke it off to pursue her singing career.” Margo cringed. “She should have stayed with Mason. I don’t know if Mason knew she was going to be here, so it should be an…exciting weekend.”
Piper smiled. “It should be. I’ll make sure that nothing destructive happens between Brooke and Mason. We don’t want a scene or anything.”
“I agree,” Margo looked around. “Soo…you were Mason’s companion on your flight here?”
Piper rolled her eyes. “You friends with Mason on Instagram as well?” Margo nodded apologetically. “Well, that’s rich. I’m glad that picture is available for everyone.” She shook her head. “I’m going to kill that man.”
“Let me know if you need any help. He’s tortured me a time or two.”
Piper lifted an eyebrow in question. “Has he? Well then, let’s have a little conversation, my friend. I have a good way of getting him back and I just might need your help.”
Margo rubbed her hands together. “Oh, I’m listening.”

Mason and the guys took a taxi over to Jake’s house from the hotel. The rehearsal dinner was semi-casual so Mason put on a pair of dark jeans and a white button up. It was on a beach, so he didn’t want to appear too fancy. Ryker, on the other hand, decided to wear his red, white and blue plaid pants with matching Navy boat shoes, navy button-up shirt and red gingham bow tie.
“You look ridiculous,” Mason said to Ryker.
“No, I look like a fucking prideful American.”
“You look like a dumbass.”
“You’ll be dressing the same way after a year with me.”
Mason rolled his eyes and doubted him very much. He
