posted there to make sure none of the guests steal the jewels from the door. Chase grinned at his own reasoning.
The man closest to him caught his attention. Chase did a double take. His hair was pulled back, clearly showing his ears. They had points on the upper tips. Chase quickly looked at the other man and saw the same thing. Needing to verify his latest thought, Chase squinted as he looked at Reed’s head. His hair was down, so it was hard to tell, and then Reed turned and spoke to one of the guards and Chase caught a glimpse of a point. These people must do this fay gig all the time. Everything looked so real.
Reed caught his attention. “Chase, this is Ryan and Tyner.” Both men bowed toward Chase. “They always guard the door during the day. You can ask them questions, but never ask them to leave their post.”
“Got it.” This resort is wild . Everyone seemed to take their job very seriously. Apparently Ryan and Tyner were there to guard the jeweled door. If this was Chase’s resort, he would have used fake jewels. That way nobody would be stuck guarding a door. He couldn’t even imagine standing around guarding a door. In no time flat he’d be fired for sleeping on the job.
They walked down a long impressive hallway and passed a couple of doors before Reed finally opened one. This door led to another equally impressive hallway. At the end of it, Reed opened another door. Chase gasped at the sight. Past an enormous marble-looking terrace were hundreds of large men sweating in battle. Is this some kind of historical resort? Chase squinted his eyes. Why was the sky light purple, and why was the grass blue tinged? Someone had really shelled the bucks out when they built this place. Craig must know the owner.
Reed leaned in close to Chase. “I want you to pay attention. See how they attack and defend? I need you to be able to do that as soon as possible.”
Someone shouted, and to Chase’s amazement all the men turned and bowed toward them. Wow! That was quite the show. Reed signaled them, and they went back to training. After a couple of hours of watching the men and Reed explaining moves, Chase’s stomach growled like a lion.
“Let’s go eat. I’m a little hungry myself.” Reed led the way to what looked like a mall dining area.
Chase was impressed. He could go to several vendors to get a variety of different foods then eat it at one of the tables in the middle of the massive room. At least three hundred people could eat in here at the same time.
Pointed ears. Chase couldn’t help but notice how everyone in this room who had their hair pulled back had pointed ears. He also noted that they all bowed to Reed. Maybe Reed was the owner’s son. That would explain a lot. He hoped Reed wasn’t one of those spoiled kids who thought everyone should bow to him just because he’d been born. Chase didn’t care much for people like that. Silently he begged Reed to be a kind and caring man.
Reed walked Chase through all the vendors and bought him several things to try. Where did they get this food from? It was like nothing he’d ever seen before. It smelled good. Taking a bite from each serving, Chase decided he liked everything except the fiery hot soup-looking stuff. When he stuck out his tongue and waved his hand in front of it, Reed laughed and passed him a drink. Whew, that was better.
A serious-looking man with the bushiest eyebrows Chase had ever seen walked up and bowed to Reed then passed him a note. Reed scanned it then quickly got up. Turning to Chase, he said, “Go ahead and eat. I’ll be back in just a moment.” Turning to the bushy-browed man, he said, “Byron, watch over him.” Byron bowed again and then took up his post a few feet from Chase.
What was up with all the guards? Were they just for show? Chase watched as Reed rushed off. His eyes strayed to Reed’s tight ass, and he wondered if he would be able to get any of that before he had to leave. Chase took a bite of food and
