stones. For Will’s I engraved: Here lies Will beloved brother of Dan, Kurt, and Sam. On Carmen’s I engraved: Carmen Pendleton (White) beloved wife of Ryan died too young and will be missed. I planted some Lily bulbs (her favorite flower) around the large oak tree that stood watch over their graves. I mourned during the whole day while doing all these chores. When finished I said my goodbyes and shed my last tear for the day.
I loaded up everything I might need into a small recreational vehicle that I had hitched the fuel tank trailer to.  Hopping in the driver seat I turned on the MP3 player that Carmen had always taken everywhere with her. As I drove down the driveway a rock song call Grey Skies of Tomorrow by the legendary band ‘Extracting Darkness’ blared to life. It was a song with a hidden meaning emphasizing that no life is promised a tomorrow and that we should live every moment to its fullest every single day like it were our last.

    Chapter 2
    The Fallen
    -1-
Danny and his brothers traveled through the night into the following day. They switched off who was driving every few hours. Eventually they had to pull over to refuel. Pulling into a Talmark parking lot to refill from the tanker, two of the brothers kept watch. Back on the road again for a little while they came across a woman walking by herself. She had a sawed off shotgun strapped on one side and a large survival knife on the other. She carried a military grade assault rifle in a quick usable fashion. A camouflage backpack was slung over one shoulder. She was wearing camouflage pants with a black sleeveless shirt. Her long black hair fell to the middle of her back. She stood around six foot tall and had a dark tan on her naturally white complexion. Her figure was well toned while slender at the same time.
“Could be trouble. What if it’s another crazy psychopath?” Kurt was quick to judge being a bit paranoid from the ordeal with Will.
Dan began slowing down. “Then be prepared, but don’t shoot the young lass just because you’re worried. Not all of the living are insane or want to kill us. Take Rye for example.”
Dan pulled the van over to the side of the road next to the woman who had stopped and was cautiously watching them with bright green eyes.
“I’m sorry to bother you ma’am. My name is Danny and these are my brothers Kurt and Sam. I understand you being wary on regards to the circumstances of the world being as they are. We lost one of our brothers just yesterday, not to Fallen , but to an insane individual wielding a machete so we are also a bit wary.”
The woman calmed herself noticeably looking over the men with a scrutinizing glance. The men had no clue that she was in fact gauging if there was any potential threat. In mere seconds she analyzed all possible courses of action if there were an unforeseen danger.
“I’m Jessie. Kind of peculiar place to meet someone, but like you said the circumstances of the world are not what they used to be. Mind asking your brother in the back to lower his gun a bit as I have already done so?”
“Kurt just holster your damn pistol already before you shoot someone on accident!” Dan gave his brother an angry glare until he put his gun away. “Sorry about that he’s a little jumpy. As I said our run in yesterday has put us all a bit on edge. It’s nice to meet you Jessie. Might I ask how you came about walking in such a desolate place with Fallen about among other potential dangers? Not to imply you can’t take care of yourself of course. You appear more than capable of facing a horde of Fallen .”
“To be honest Danny, nothing more than bad luck I suppose. Have been having a long run of it here lately. I was in the military but stationed abroad when things when to hell in the US. I had a mission to complete before I could hitch a ride back to the states on a plane. Landing at a
