well, more like gracefully stumble. We walk back out the party and Sharleen comes storming over. She slaps me so hard I see stars, I stumble backwards and my head spins. When I manage to gather my bearings, I charge her but Jagger has me around the waist before I can drop a decent punch.
“Enough!” he roars, “Sharleen, fuck, back off!”
“This li ttle slut is ruining everything.”
“She’s done nothing! If anyone is ruining things, it’s you!” Jagger yells.
“Wha t do you honestly want with this little ‘I cut myself’ bitch? She’s got nothing on me Jagger, nothing.”
“What did you say?” I snarl.
“We all know about you and your mental issues. He’s too good for you, when will you get that through your thick head?”
I kick back and hit Jagger in the shins, causing him to let me go long enough to launch forward. I drive a solid fist into Sharleen’s face and she screams, falling backwards into the table. I leap on top of her, and throw another fist into her nose. She screams again and flails around. When Jagger manages to pull me off again, the whole place has gone quiet.
“I’m done!” I cry. “I’m done Jagger!”
“That’s enough, just calm down.”
“I won’t calm down; I can’t feel like this anymore. I didn’t ask for this. Make a choice Jagger, right now or I’m leaving.”
His eyes widen and Sharleen stands, wiping blood from her lip.
“Yeah Jagger, make a choice because I won’t stand around and be played.”
He closes his eyes a moment and then tilts his head to the side as though he’s listening to something.
“I’ve made a choice; I made it the night you got back Sharleen, I just didn’t realize it until now. Listen to the song…the one that’s playing right now…it’s for you…it’s my choice.”
Sharleen smiles when she hears the song, it’s a beautiful sounding song and my heart turns to stone. He picked her, how could I be so stupid? How could I ever believe I was enough? Tears begin to thunder down my cheeks and I turn, but Jagger grips my arm.
“Let me go!”
“Listen…just listen…”
“ We have done a lot of growing up; we were never meant to be together. Coz’ something changed you’ve been actin’ so strange and it’s taking its toll on me. It’s safe to say that I’m ready to let you leave….”
“It’s over Sharleen,” Jagger begins. “I loved you once, I did , but I’m a different person now. I thought I was doing the right thing giving you a chance when you came back, but the feeling isn’t there anymore. I’ll always care about you, you changed a part of me but Willow is my life now.”
“Jagger, you don’t mean that!” Sharleen cries.
He steps forward and takes her face in his hands. “We had fun, but I thought you were dead and I fell in love again. I can’t turn my back on her; you wouldn’t want me to be with you when I don’t love you. I’m sorry, but my choice is made.”
I’m crying; big, fat, ugly tears stream down my face. He loves me? Jagger loves me and he chose me? Sharleen’s face turns to steel as she grips her bag.
“This isn’t over, you w ill regret that decision Jagger and so will she.”
Jagger glares at her. “Did you just threaten me, Sharleen? Because I don’t take too kindly to be threatened…”
“It’s not a threat Jagger, it’s a promise. This isn’t over. You should watch her back!”
“I’m not afraid of you.” I snarl.
“It’s not me you should be afraid of, this isn’t over.”
Then she turns and storms out. I turn to Jagger and his eyes narrow. Ace and Rusty walk over and stop beside him.
“That didn’t sound good boss,”
“No, she’s up to something.”
“I was sus on her the whole time.” Bull mutters, coming up beside them.
Jagger spins on him. “You didn’t care to share that with me?”
“I thought you were all lovey dovey with her, I wasn’t going to be the asshole to ruin that.”
Jagger rubs his head. “I can’t deal with
