heat to present itself in my crotch.
"Fuck..." I said, as I turned away from mirror and stepped back to my suitcase. "I've got to stop thinking about him like this."
I reached into my suitcase and pulled out my perfume, pumping a few sprays of it onto my chest. Then I grabbed my brush and ran it through my hair a few times, before glancing at the clock.
It was 9:45. Connor and I had agreed to meet out by his truck at ten, after our parents had gone to sleep. Since I was ready to go, though, and I was pretty sure my mom and Richard were already in bed, I stepped out of the room and made my way outside.
The moon was bright overhead, illuminating my way as I walked toward the barn where Connor's truck was parked. He was already sitting inside of the truck, the window open and his arm hanging out. He was wearing a black cowboy hat and a white and blue flannel shirt, with the sleeves rolled up. He looked over at me as I approached.
"Hey there," he said, in his deep and sexy voice.
"Hi!" I squealed, like an excited little girl.
Connor started the truck and I ran around to the passenger side, hopping up into it.
"You ready to go have some fun?" Connor asked.
I nodded eagerly, but then felt the need to state a disclaimer.
"Yes, let's go have some fun," I said. "But we need to be good."
Connor raised an eyebrow as he looked at me, as if he didn't know what I was talking about.
"Don't look at me like that," I said, playfully. "You know exactly what I mean."
He chuckled and then put the truck in drive, pulling slowly away from the house before turning on his headlights.
"I feel like I'm sixteen and sneaking away from home," I said, laughing.
Connor laughed with me, as he turned onto the main road. He then pressed on the gas, picking up speed. I rolled down my window, letting the cool air flow through my hair.
"So, where are we going?" I asked, over the sound of the wind.
Connor glanced over at me, flashing his boyish smile.
"Well, unless we want to drive two hours, there's really only one place we can go," he responded. "It's the only bar in town. It's called, “The Horseshoe”. But it's actually a lot of fun. I think you're going to enjoy it."

Chapter 10
    ––––––––
A fter a twenty-minute drive, we pulled up to a single-story building in the middle of nowhere. Out front, there were a lot of cars and motorcycles parked and as soon as we neared the building, I could hear the country music coming from inside.
    "This is it?" I asked.
Connor pulled into a parking spot and turned the engine off.
"Yep, this is the horseshoe," he said. "The one and only."
We stepped out of the truck and Connor took my hand, walking side-by-side with me as we stepped into the bar. The building was completely filled with cowboys, cowgirls and motorcycle riders. The country music blared and I looked to the opposite side of the room, where there was a large dance floor with people line dancing in perfect unison. A smile crossed my face immediately and I squeezed Connor's hand.
"Line dancing?" I cried. "I've never done that! Will you do it with me?"
Connor nodded and smiled. "Of course. I'll show you how. But let's get a drink first."
We stepped to the bar and Connor shook hands with the bartender. It seemed that they knew each other, which didn’t surprise me too much. Everybody always knows each other in small towns.
"What would you like, Emily?" Connor asked.
I shrugged and responded, "Whatever you're having."
I should have probably just told him that I wanted a beer, because a few seconds later, he turned around with some shots of whiskey.
"Whiskey?!" I stated, my eyes widening.
Connor shrugged, "You said you wanted what I was having."
I laughed and we held the shot glasses up in the air, clinking them together. Then we swallowed the fiery liquid down. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, though, and a minute later we both took another one.
I might as well cut loose tonight. I'm on vacation,
