experiment at Club Secrets, with Andrea and others."
"I'm not sure I understand. You're willing to give up your dream of becoming a doctor to learn this business?"
"No. I'm going to apply to UM med school, but it will be at least a year before I can start. Since my parents have taken a stand against me, I'm on my own. I figure I can support myself if you let me work full time, and I can use this year to learn how to be more of the kind of lover that Andrea wants."
"So, you want to play as well as work?"
"Well, sure." David grinned. "But, it's more like research, right?"
Dirk put both his hands on the desk. "David, you are young and inexperienced, and need time to learn the ways of our lifestyle. But, are you interested because you want to be with Andrea, or to get back at her?"
David looked down at his hands and was silent for several moments. "Man, I just can't get the image of my father and mother with Andrea out of my head. But, no, I'm not trying to punish her. I want to understand her."
"All right then. Now we're getting somewhere."
"So, I can work here? I don't need much of a salary to start. Just enough to get myself a small place and cover expenses."
"You came here looking for my advice. Will you take it?"
David felt disappointment rising within, but he knew he had to listen. "I'll hear you out, at least."
Dirk nodded. "You can accomplish what you just told me you want without giving up Columbia med school."
"How's that?" David asked without enthusiasm.
"I've got connections in New York. I've been selling Club Secrets franchises, and there's a Club Manhattan. Start med school as planned. You can still apply to UM. If you're accepted, then you'll have a choice next year if you want to come back or not. In the mean time, you can learn about the sexual orientation Andrea prefers from a master."
    "What does that mean?"
"Club Manhattan operates a bit differently than the Florida clubs. Tyson MacVeigh, the owner, is a buddy of mine from way back, and he is a Master Dom. He works with a select group of applicants who want to train in the lifestyle. You could learn about BDSM and how to be a good Dom, and go to med school as well. Your parents tell me you're an excellent student. Now's your chance to put those skills to work and get everything you want."
David leaned in with interest. "You can hook me up with this guy?" It was the first ray of hope David had felt all day.
"Sure. Just have to make the phone call. So, are you in?"
David took a deep breath. Being away from Andrea and his parents might help him heal the wound and erase the thoughts of them together in his head. He nodded.
"Yeah, I'm in." He stood up and put out his hand. "Dirk, I can't thank you enough. That's good advice and an opportunity I'm not going to turn down."
"Good! Now go back to Andrea's and have some make up sex."
David was already on his way out, but he turned around abruptly. He shook his head, smiling. "You talked to her before I got here?"
"Yes, and your parents. I didn't tell them you were on your way here, though. Just listened."
David took two big steps and threw his arms around Dirk. "Man, you are all right. Thanks for everything."

David breezed back to Fort Lauderdale. Traffic was light since it was Sunday. He didn't call first, he just showed up at Andrea's door. He rang the doorbell, even though he still had her key.
Andrea rushed into his arms. "David, I'm so glad you're back. I was afraid you wouldn't let me explain." She pulled him inside.
"Listen, if you want to stay here, I'll let you move in. We'll figure this out with the kids and all. If your parents have a problem with it, well, that's too bad."
David stood still. "You'd give up your friendship with them for me?"
"I'll stand by you, David. That's what you've done for me, no questions asked. I'm guessing your parents will come around after a while. They won't stay angry at you too long. I think you know that."
David took her in his arms.
