Lady. Your choices were taken away the day that you were kidnapped.”
“What do you do for a living, Akmal?”
The answer that he gave me did not put my mind at ease. He leaned down and growled, “I’m a man who changes history. Dinner is served at 6:00 and I expect you to be prompt and on time.”
He turned on his toe and strolled from the room with such an air of power and authority that it made me almost believe that he was a man who changed history.
I exited the shower to once again view Akmal’s signature rose and cryptic note laid over what he would have me wear for dinner attire. He took painstaking effort in the simple act of dressing me. Even I was shocked that I allowed him to do it but his threat of discipline still weighed heavy on my mind.
Leila, you will look stunning in this dress
that I have chosen for you.
Wear your hair down. I want
to pull it when I fuck you later.
Mmm, I am so looking forward to it.
Yours, Akmal
I had to laugh at his vulgarity. The ways that he violated me turned me on. I wasn’t concerned with being turned on, I wanted answers and I had every intention of getting them.
I eyed myself in the mirror one last time and made my way down that long corridor and to the staircase that would take me to the dining hall. I slowed my gait when I heard voices and ducked around the corner so I could eavesdrop.
“I don’t give a fuck Khalil. You are the one that worked out this shady deal. You listen to me—I want nothing to do with this scam the two of you have cooked up and I’m telling her. I refuse to make her a victim again. I’m giving her the freedom to leave but I’ll be damned if I am cutting her loose to vultures like the two of you.”
I couldn’t hear everything that they were saying and parts of it were in their native dialect. What shady deal? Suddenly terror gripped me as I thought ‘are they going to sell me?’ I couldn’t understand why I felt a sense of betrayal at the thought of Akmal selling me to some rich Middle Eastern male who would see me as nothing more than a sex toy.
My mind began to run amok with thoughts of being enslaved to some rich oil tycoon and I felt sick. I came from around the corner and made my way down the hallway as if I had not heard the two men talking.
Akmal grabbed my arm as if he was frustrated and his long strides caused me to have to trot behind him in order to keep up.
What is going on?
Akmal’s disposition immediately changed when he pulled my seat out and I sat.
“We’re going to have a pleasant dinner Leila, no inquiries, no talk of business, just us—a nice peaceful dinner my love.”
Shit, not good I had planned on questioning him about a few things. I would wait until the right timing, Akmal was all about timing. I was learning how to better deal with him over time. Complicated didn’t even begin to describe his personality.
I grabbed my wine glass and took a huge drink. I could immediately feel the numbing effects and took another. I looked up to see Akmal studying me. Why did he always do that? It was like he wanted to know every minute detail of me—I would find out in time that he did. After all, the devil is in the details…
Akmal
I reached over taking the wine glass from her hand as I spoke. “Prisoners shouldn’t stand around corners listening to their captors conversations. They could possibly hear more than they bargained for. What did you hear Leila and don’t even think about lying to me.”
“Enough to know that my manager probably had something to do with this kidnapping.”
“And that would not shock you?”
“Honestly no, it only confirms what I already know—that I have no one.”
Akmal could feel a twisting in his chest as she spoke the words. It was so sad to see a woman who had everything—yet nothing.
“Eat—tonight you sleep with me.”
