Bound to Secrets
Hungry.”
“Well, get up and I’ll heat you up some food. I think we’re safe—there’s been no sign of anyone all day.”
He got to his feet and held out his hand to her. As she slipped her palm in his, a tingle passed up his arm. Her eyes widened and he knew she had felt it as well. He tightened his grip and pulled her up.
After pushing everything back into his rucksack, he slung it over his shoulder, picked up the sleeping bag, and headed toward the keep. They didn’t speak on the way and once inside he busied himself sorting out the food he’d brought with him; rich beef stew ready to warm up. He set up the camping stove and placed the pan on to heat. Glancing up, he found her staring at him.
    “What?” he asked.
Keira shook her head. “Nothing. I’m just not used to…” She waved a hand at the food cooking, the other provisions he’d set on the small table.
“Relax then. Sit down, have a glass of wine.”
She peered down at herself and winced. “I think I’ll go wash up. If that’s okay?”
She was actually a little…crumpled. And grubby.
“Of course.” It occurred to him as she disappeared to wonder where she actually went to wash. In the loch, he presumed and shivered a little at the thought. He hoped she wouldn’t wander far despite seeing no sign of anyone all day. It also occurred to him that he was an idiot to worry; she’d lived here alone quite safely until he’d come along. All the same, he couldn’t prevent a quick check. He went outside, and around the back of the keep. Keira stood poised on the edge of the loch.
    Naked.
Her figure was slender and perfect; her legs long, her breasts small but full and long dark hair fell down her back to cover the curve of her ass.
A stab of desire hit him straight in the groin, taking him by surprise.
He hadn’t felt desire in a long time. After the attack, he’d gone a little crazy, slept with just about every woman he could find. He’d later learned that sex was needed to trigger the first shift, and if he’d kept his dick in his pants then it would never have happened. But obviously, he hadn’t known the finer details of being a werewolf back then.
He hadn’t felt the urge again since he’d found out. Until Keira.
He couldn’t turn away, feeling like some sort of voyeur as she raised her arms above her head, the action lifting her breasts. White skin and dark red nipples. His breath caught in his throat; he’d never seen anything quite so beautiful.
Only when she dived into the water did he move.
Shit, he’d bet that water was icy. Maybe he should have a dip himself. Instead, he waited for the sting of desire to subside then headed back inside.

Chapter Five
Keira had known he was watching her; she’d caught him out of the corner of her eye.
Did he like what he saw? She wasn’t ugly. At least she didn’t think so. But it was unlikely he would find her attractive. She was skinny—too skinny—he’d said so.
She swam a few strokes and then ducked under and rubbed at her hair. She hadn’t had shampoo since her mother’s visits, but if she scrubbed hard enough it might come clean.
After five minutes in the chill water, she was shivering. She climbed out, dried herself, pulled on panties, jeans and her favorite pink T-shirt, then sat on a rock to let her hair dry in the sun.
Part of her didn’t want to go back. Right here and now, life was about as good as it had ever been. But once she went back inside, she suspected that would change. Real life would rear its head and she would have to consider the future.
    “Keira?”
She glanced up as he called her name.
    “The food’s ready.”
She nodded, gathered up her things, and headed back to the keep. Connor handed her a chipped mug of red wine as she came in and she sipped it cautiously. She wasn’t used to alcohol. But the flavor was warm and mellow on her tongue.
    Why the hell not?
She downed the contents in one gulp and held out her mug for more.
