belong. With you."
    "Fine," Connor said, ripping his shirt off over his head and walking out the door before I knew what was happening.
    "Where are you going?" I said, running after him.
    "If you're not going to leave then I am." He turned the corner on the hallway towards the front door.
    "Don't leave," I said, panic in my voice.
    "You don't want me here, I know you don't."
    "Connor that's not true," I tried to reach for him but he was moving too fast, "Connor just wait a second."
    He flung open the front door and in one stride shifted from man to wolf. I had been just about to wrap my hands around his hand but I reared back at the sudden shift.
    Connor in his wolf form turned to look at me, his eyes hungry, predatory, and level with mine. He was huge, he could have ripped me apart without a second thought.
    "Don't go," I said, taking a step forward anyway, pushing past my fear.
    But he only turned around and loped off in to the forest, and was gone in just a few moments.
    I thought for a second about trying to shift myself and go after him, but there was no way I would have pulled it off, especially with how emotionally destroyed I felt in that moment.
    Instead I went back in to the house and raced down the hallway towards Marcus' room. I ran in to the room and jumped on the bed, and Marcus was awake in an instant. "What's wrong?"
    "It's Connor," I said between the sobs that were already starting to wrack me, "he left. He was angry because he thought I was more interested in you than him, so he shifted and he ran off in to the woods."
    Marcus gave me a considered look, then he sighed. "He'll be fine. Let him run his anger off."
    "No," I shook my head, "no you have to go after him.
    Marcus didn't move.
    "Please Marcus, you have to bring him back." I grasped his big hand with both of mine.
    Marcus looked down at the floor and nodded. "Okay, I'll go after him if that's what you want. But I cant make him come back Sara."
    "Just try," I said.
    Marcus nodded and walked quickly from the room, and I curled in to the fetal position on the big king sized bed, hugging a pillow, all alone.

    ~~~
    It was morning when I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder, bringing me back from sleep. Marcus was standing over me, looking haggard like I had never seen him before. He plopped down on the beside me.
    "Did you find him?" I immediately asked.
    Marcus just shook his head. "Once he figured out I was tracking him he confused his scent. I lost him just over the Canadian border."
    The Canadian border. That was so far away. Why would Connor go so far?
    "But he's coming back right?" I said.
    Marcus sighed. He looked so tired. "I just assumed he would go run off his anger. I never thought he would go that far. It's dangerous." Marcus shrugged, "I don't know where he's going Sara."
    "What if he doesn't come back?"
    Marcus seemed to consider this a long moment. "It doesn't change anything. We will move forward together. With or without Connor."
