another park that he didnât have jurisdiction over.
When he arrived at the clinic, Doc Weber let him in, glanced at the blood soaking his shirt, and shook his head.
âDid you call Darien about this?â Doc asked as Eric stripped off his shirt in the exam room. He then removed the bandages Eric had applied.
âI did.â
âSo how did it happen?â
Eric had to explain all over again.
Doc stopped stitching him up for a moment to consider him, his white brows deeply furrowed. âIâll have to give Darien a medical report.â
âOver a couple of lousy stitches?â Eric snorted, wishing he could have pretended nothing was wrong, but because of the location of the second bite, he couldnât have stitched the wound closed himself. Plus antibiotics could help keep the bite from becoming infected. Suturing it would help it heal faster than if heâd just let his enhanced wolf-healing abilities take care of it.
âTwelve on one shoulder, ten on the other. And theyâre fine stitches, if I do say so myself. I could tell you to take it easy for a couple of days, no running as a wolf, and by the end of the week you should be mostly healed. But I know you wonât listen to me.â
Eric grabbed his shirt but didnât put it on. With the suturing and the new bandages, he wouldnât bleed on the driverâs seat, and he didnât want to wear the bloody shirt.
âTake it easy, and if you need anything for painâ¦â
âNothing. Thanks.â Eric left the clinic, and when he arrived home, he called Sarandon one last time for the night. He really didnât want to take his brother with him tomorrow, but pack leader orders had to be obeyed. Heâd begun washing the blood out of his shirt when Sarandon answered.
âHey, what did Doc say? You must have already seen him by now.â
âCouple of stitches. Why donât you come with me to try to locate the pack tomorrow? I want to check on the woman and see how sheâs faring.â
Sarandon was so quiet, Eric thought heâd lost the connection. âOkay?â
âI know you didnât threaten the women or this wolf, or you would have taken a chunk out of him. You didnât, did you?â
âNo. I just left the area.â
âIf heâs a lupus garou , he shouldnât have reacted so aggressively unless he was provoked.â
âI didnât provoke him.â
âI know. Iâm just saying, it seems odd. He seems to have more at stake here.â
âAlpha male pack leader, I suspect. Anyway, no big deal.â
âAnd the woman youâre interested in?â
âYes, sheâs alpha. At least around the women she was with at the creek, and then later when she met up with me at the cabin.â
âYou were alone together?â
âNo. Give me a break.â
âThen the guy was most likely her mate.â
âOne of the women said a guy wanted to court her but she wasnât interested.â
âHow many are following that wolf then?â
âThe one who attacked me was probably with her pack. She might be a sub-leader or just another alpha in the pack. He might be the pack leader or a sub-leader or just another alpha in their pack. We have several alphas in ours. She might have several in hers. And if heâs not with her pack, he could be a lone wolf.â
âAll right. Iâm just saying donât get your hopes up. Wait, youâve been trying to catch up with the wolves growing pot in the remoter areas of the park. Donât tell me you think this pack has anything to do with it.â
âDo you want to come with me or not?â Eric couldnât help being annoyed. He wasnât declaring his interest in courting the she-wolf. Yeah, he found her attractive, and just the fact she was an alpha intrigued him. But she hadnât trusted him enough to let him take her pack member to Dr. Weber. Then
