as we left to find the truck and Jax standing there with two people sitting with blankets over them as they waited for the ambulance.
I wanted to talk to the scientist more about the liquid, but we never got the chance.

After having successfully rescued everyone, we reported in to our boss and Jax invited me over.
Upon entering his house, I admired how homely the whole place looked. A sofa leaning against a wall opposite the TV, a thick rug covering the entire flooring area, and a small doorway leading to a fridge loaded with alcohol rounded out the place.
I walked in and was drawn towards the couch, but was reluctant to take off my uniform.
"Make yourself at home buddy, hang your jacket up there," he invited, throwing his on a nearby coat hanger which stood taller than me. "We did a fine job today saving those guys. By the way, what's that in your pocket? Pilfered something from the mad scientist?" He cackled at his joke as he nodded toward my pocket.
I shrugged, my heart beating faster as I tried to think of something to tell him. "I...I think he said something about...protecting me from fires or something. He was quite adamant about me taking it, but I'm not sure I should," I lied the best I could with a straight face.
"Why don't you drink it, then? Maybe you'll become the next superhero or something." I knew he was kidding, but he was grinning from ear to ear like an idiot.
"I'm not really ready to drink it yet," I said, slipping the enticing vial back in my pocket.
At that moment, I noticed Jax's face light up with delight and intrigue.
"What?" I asked.
"No man, it's fine." He shook his head. "But let me ask you something. This lab, was it by any chance full of potions that were labeled funny things like 'mHZ' and 'oHQ'?"
"Yeah, those sound familiar," I nodded, trying to figure out how he would know something like that. This was supposed to be top-secret government lab type of stuff. I could probably get visited by the MiB just by having this. If there was such a thing.
"And his name was Terrance McGowen, am I right?" he whipped his head back.
"Yeah, Eddie spoke about him. Don't you remember?"
"I wasn't paying attention," he admitted as he shook his head. "I know this guy, he specializes in fire-fighting equipment. Basically his new invention will revolutionize the way we do things. Average firefighters aren't deemed worthy enough, but once you swallow it, you'll be immune to fires due to your altered DNA. I'd have some myself but you have to drink the entire bottle. I'd love to do this though, I'm jealous."
I felt like I was trying to bullshit an expert bullshitter. However, my wife's words rang in my ear and I was excited at the prospect of seeing from a woman's point of view.
I shrugged and took it out of my pocket, removing the cork. It took a bit of wrestling because the wood was stuck in tight, but I managed to get it off with a loud pop. The cork went flying over to the opposite side of the room.
He just watched me as a cat watching his prey. I shivered as I wondered how it would affect me. Did it just change my mind to where I could see from their point of view? I really hadn't thought about that.
"You're not chickening out, are you?" He leered.
Closing my eyes and shutting off my thoughts, I chugged the vial's nasty-tasting contents down in one gulp just as if it were a pint at my local bar. Afterward I dropped the empty tube in the nearest trash. "Alright, taken it. What now?"
"We wait," he said, interlocking his fingers together across his stomach.
A few minutes later, I began to feel sick and a little out of it. I was really starting to get scared. What if this caused some kind of permanent change? Was I being silly? At this point, I wasn't sure as I couldn't think straight, and my thoughts began to get hazy. I then blacked out on the couch.

"Hey! Hey! Wake up!" I woke up to the sound of Jax's panicking voice.
"W-what is it?"
"You blacked out," he replied
