Keelan barely restrained himself from rushing over to her and pulling her into his arms. She looked one hundred percent edible. She was so far beyond delicious, beautiful, and perfect he decided they’d need to invent a new word just to describe how amazing she looked. She always dressed nicely—after all, she owned and managed two clothing stores. But it was more than her clothing. It was the way her hair shone deep brown in the theater lights. The way her dark brown eyes sparkled with humor and intelligence. The delightful smile that tilted her lips up at the corners, and the floral feminine scent of her all bound up together into the package that was Quintana Simon, the woman he wanted and was determined to take to bed tonight. He and Wynn would demonstrate to her so clearly she couldn’t misunderstand just how much they wanted her, needed her, and longed for her to be with them.
He didn’t really watch the movie. Mostly he watched Quintana. He noticed how her forehead creased with two lines when she was thinking, and how her lips always curved at the edges first before she laughed. He noticed how she sat quite still for long periods of time, without any fidgeting, whereas Wynn was constantly moving, and even he tended to shuffle his feet and lean forward or back on his chair. He noticed that she seemed to enjoy the explosions, chases, and fight scenes the best, and even occasionally seemed to be critical of the dialogue. But most of all he just imprinted her on his mind and his heart so he would never forget these wonderful hours in her company.
Keelan had spent several hours the previous night cleaning his apartment from top to bottom, and this morning as soon as he’d gotten up he’d changed the bed, putting new linens on it. He’d done a few other little things to try to make his apartment look more welcoming, but was well aware that to a woman’s eyes likely it’d still seem cold and masculine. But at least it was clean. So when the credits began rolling after the film, and the lights came back on, he jumped straight in while she was still hopefully happy and relaxed. “Wynn and I were hoping you’d come to my apartment now for some coffee.”
    “Just coffee?”
“I also have blueberry muffins and honey oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.”
“That wasn’t what I meant and you know it.”
Keelan hoped he wasn’t blushing. His face felt a little hot. Fortunately Wynn answered for him.
“Keelan and I would never try to get you to do anything you didn’t want to do.”
Quintana looked around the theater and stood up. “Where is everyone else?”
“There isn’t anyone else. We hired this cinema for the evening,” said Keelan.
“What did you do that for?”
Wynn jumped in to answer. “Haven’t you ever been to a movie and had it totally ruined by people talking at the top of their voices, or throwing popcorn, or constantly answering their cell phones? Well I have, and Keelan and I didn’t want to risk anything like that happening on our first genuine date.”
    “Second date,” replied Quintana.
    “Whatever.”
“So will you come to my apartment now, please, Quintana?” Keelan asked, forcing himself to breathe normally and speak softly even though he wanted to hold her and beg her and kiss her.
“Thank you. I would like to visit with you.”
Keelan couldn’t resist picking up her hand and squeezing it gently with relief. To him, it seemed as if a massive hurdle had just been overcome.
Talking about the movie, they walked from the cinema along the mall and to the professional suites. Wynn swiped the glass door open for them, but Keelan had to swipe his card at the elevator. The wolves were very security conscious, and Wynn’s swipe card would only let him access the floor where he was staying, the seventh, not the one where Keelan had his apartment, the eighth.
“I like that these apartments are so secure. That’s the only thing that kept Hawthorne and Willow Cunliffe
