he’d informed him earlier that they’d be going out. Boeucc, one of the oldest restaurants in Milan, was one of Tanner’s favorites, and he never failed to dine there, given the opportunity.
Tanner looked exceptionally dashing in his light beige suit , and tie that had a sheen to it. It matched his gleaming, auburn hair, and Natalie realized she’d stopped breathing, the instant she saw him.
“Breathe,” he said, looking at her expression. His heart swelled at the sight of her, dressed for their evening together. Leona had provided excellent instructions on wardrobe usage. Natalie chose a Valentino, lace-trim, organza dress with a thin belt and long, see-through sleeves. The elegant dress had an understated elegance.
His eyes went down to the Louboutin, ankle-strap, matching heels that had to be over four inches high, making her shapely legs appear oh-so-temptingly long. His eyes went from the feminine shoes, up her smooth legs to the short skirt, and he began to imagine what he was going to do with her, later.
“Let’s go eat,” he said in a deep voice. “You’re going to need your strength.”
The restaurant’s deep red, Italian carpet and thick, floor-length drapes, contrasted with the white linens and set off with paintings of the Italian countryside, gave Boeucc its classy ambiance. Service was impeccable, and the food delicious. Natalie found that all the activity had given her an appetite.
T anner was delighted when the waiter informed him that a 2004 Cristal Brut was available. He was in the mood to celebrate, and Roederer’s bubbly nectar was the perfect choice. He watched Natalie breathe in the aroma, just like he’d shown her how to do.
“Apple blossoms,” she said , when the scent of fruit and flowers wafted up. She took a sip of the light, bright-gold liquid. It was so fresh and delicate. She could really learn to like this.
She turned the bottle toward her , so she could read the label. “Louis Roederer…I’ll have to remember that. This is worth repeating,” she said, noting the smile on Tanner’s face.
Sometimes , he was so easy to please. And, other times….
“I’m having such a wonderful time,” she beamed. Tanner saw the glow, in her otherwise pale skin, and was glad that she’d come with him on this trip. He found, seeing her experience such pleasure, had a profound effect on him. He took note of that. There was something different about this adorable woman. He marveled, yet again, at the contradiction that was Natalie Baker.
She looked young and innocent , while at the same time, ultimately sexy. It was something about her flawless skin, deep brown eyes, and angelic look. He couldn’t put his finger on it. He just knew, it was a complete package that made her irresistible. He felt confident that he could keep her under his spell. She had no other sexual experience. He could show her everything, mold her as he wished.
“I know the chef,” he told her. “ I took the liberty of ordering. I’ll spare you the Italian names – you’d recognize the dishes as the chef’s French Onion Soup, Italian Fish Fillets and, for dessert, real Italian Gelato.”
Tanner seemed pleased with his choices , and with the restaurant, overall. Only once, his eyes darkened when a young waiter refilled the water glasses, and smiled at Natalie. She smiled back, innocently, and noted Tanner’s reaction. He can’t possibly think I’m flirting with a waiter I’ve never seen before, can he?
Through dinner , they chatted about Milan and the sights Natalie had seen so far, plus everything Tanner wanted to show her. But, the whole time Tanner seemed to have something on his mind. Natalie was starting to expect his mood shifts. He could appear to be enjoying her company one minute, and be miles away the next. She wondered if his mind was on business. He did come to Milan to work, and not just entertain her.
She didn’t have wonder, for long. Tanner revealed his thoughts, as the dessert
