together. I was just nervous, but I’ll be fine.”
“Your first time isn’t going to be bent over a bathroom counter when you have to close your eyes to endure it. Now go,” he rumbled. “I won’t tell you again. I need some privacy and a cold shower.”
My heart pounding in my ears, I grabbed my towel from where it had been left on the floor, covering myself even though Alec had already seen and tasted everything worth covering. I didn’t bother picking up my clothes from the floor, not wanting to spend a single second longer than necessary in Alec’s presence after being so forcefully dismissed.

Picking up the cardboard box full of my belongings, I fled the room with a sinking heart, running down the hallway and putting distance between my bruised confidence and the man who had just rejected me.
Crawling under the covers, I buried my face in one of the pillows and let loose a shuddering sob.
I felt like I had failed already.
