her pacing and starts talking again.
“And even if I wasn’t and everything is perfectly fine, do you have any idea how much crap a baby needs? We’re gonna have to buy car seats and cribs and a freaking changing table. I mean, people say you don’t really need a changing table, but where the hell else are we going to change a baby? You can’t just change them anywhere, Baby. There are germs everywhere ! There’s no way I’m not getting a changing table.”
“Babe…”
“What if we don’t have enough room for JT and a baby and a changing table at our house? We might have to move, Chase! Where the hell are we gonna move, Baby? We can’t just go wherever we want to go anymore. We’re going to have to think about school systems and allergies and freaking gangs and shit. What if we move somewhere crawling with gangs, Chase? I don’t want our baby to end up in a gang because we had to move so we could fit a changing table in the house. Oh my God! I wrecked our baby with weed and antibiotics and now they’re gonna join a gang!”
Finally, she takes a breath and stops pacing for a second. Her paranoia finally taking the last of her nervous energy out of her system, she falls down on the closed seat of the toilet in a huff and stares in front of her.
The thought that the perfect, gorgeous lunatic in front of me is going to be the mother of my child has me swallowing the lump in my throat.
Crouching down in front of her, I rest my hands on her thighs and stare back into her perfect green eyes.
God, I hope our baby looks just like her crazy ass.
“Say something!”
“I love you,” I whisper, halting her panic. “Sophie, I love you so fucking much, Baby.”

While I’m going over the blueprint for the new plans with Jack, we hear the bathroom door swing open from across the office. While I can’t see Sophie’s face, the wide grin covering my cousins confirms the results of the pregnancy test he’d made her take.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t relieved when we left Analise’s appointment this afternoon, but I was surprised that I also felt a little disappointed. Although I’d never planned on having a family or even a wife if I’m being honest, the past few days had made me rethink a lot.
Still, for the time being at least, it definitely had happened for the right man in the family.
“Hey,” he says, approaching the door, smile still in place.
“Go on,” I tell him as I make my way around the desk and pull him in for a brotherly hug. “Take the rest of the day.”
“You sure?” he asks.
“Yeah, with the new changes, we’ll be rearranging shit the rest of the day anyway. Besides, I doubt the crew would know what to do with themselves if you actually worked a full sixty hour week,” I chuckle. “Congratulations.”
“Thanks,” he beams. “She’s working on getting an appointment now.”
After talking to him for a few more minutes, Jack surprises me by shaking his hand.
“Congratulations man,” he says with a genuine smile.
As they pull out of the parking lot, I glance over to find him staring out the window quietly. While Chase is much more like a brother than a cousin to me, Jack’s a good man and I can’t help but feel bad for him. Not only did he go through something I can’t even begin to fathom, he did it all for a girl he’s finding out isn’t his anymore. The thought alone of that happening with me and Analise is one that I can’t even imagine.
“You alright?” I ask him, pulling him from whatever thought was holding him.
“Yeah, I actually am. I mean, I’d be full of shit if I said I wouldn’t take her back in a minute,” he admits, finally looking over toward me. “Not being with her sucks, but I know she’s okay and she’s happy. That’s all I’ve ever wanted for her.”
His selfless words leave me speechless and after a moment, I can’t help but shake my head.
“Wow,” I tell him, sitting back in my chair and smirking in his
